Didn’t they used to get all interleague play out of the way by July or something? Did you know the Mets colors are an amalgam of the old Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants colors? Those teams left for Californey the same year. No question which colors will win out tonight though.

Well, the colors of the City of New York are blue, white and orange so it all stems from that. Knicks are similar.

Lightning is much scarier than any warrior, as anyone with any experience with lightning can attest. On the other hand, our warrior has the Boston Red Sox at his back.

Hopefully the way the Metropolitans won the day before, sapped their energy. Let's go sweep these small apple teams.

    Both of them.

Back when there were an even number of teams in each league you could play interleague play on set weekends and it wasn't a problem. Now, with 15 teams in both the American and National leagues, there needs to be at least one interleague series happening at all times or else you'd have two teams with nobody to play for at least 3 days.

They did! Then Houston changed leagues and now there are an odd number of teams in both leagues. So a full slate of games means there HAS to be an interleague matchup at all times.

Anyway. Die, Mets, die! And all that good stuff.

we are 55 games over .500.

    records against:
NL East: 14-3, 3 against the Mets upcoming
    Toronto: 15-4
Baltimore: 14-2, 3 more at home in a week and a half

total: 43-10. 60% of our games over .500 are against 5 teams (ATL 5-1, WAS 3-0, MIA 4-0, PHI doesn't count at 2-2)

We will probably get to see a lot of our bullpen pitchers tonight. The Mets are playing well, but the Sox still win this game.

I'm confused why Cuevas is getting a start.... I thought the full rotation was back in gear. Is Cora working in an extra days rest for all the starters?
    Price
    Sale (piggybacked by Eovaldi)
    Porcello
    Rodriguez

Oh shit. Right. Answered my own question. We haven't had a steady 5th starter most of this season and clearly Pomeranz is chopped liver

    Last year, Cuevas had a 108.00 ERA, a 9.000 WHIP, an H9 of 81.0 and an ERA+ of 8.

He will need to be better tonight.

For a team in a large market, the Mets have an incredibly anonymous lineup.

I wonder if Gomes has any idea of the widespread disappointment throughout New England when his name was heard instead of Eck's.

Maybe when the lefties are up, Cuevas could go to third base and Rafi could come in to pitch to them?

Couldn't be much worse and they probably aren't going to hit it to third base against Devers anyway.

Oh hell yeah. Did you know Gomes is second on the Red Sox all-time pinch-hit home run list? He had six, to Teddy Ballgame's seven. Of course, Gomesy played less than two seasons in Boston. The guy is clutch personified.

Lefties against Cuevas in his career -- updated to the second:

    23 AB, 9 hits, 2 HR, 4 2B, 4 BB, 1 HBP, OPS of 1.326.

Edit: A little off there I think. 24 ABs.
