Right after O'Brien mentions how "reliable" he's been.
Are the A's the whitest team in the league?
Interesting, and true. The Rays are contenders for this category.
Maybe, but their lineup turns over twice a year.
Was that banner connected to the Yawkey Street issue, anyway bad optics for a team that has tried so hard to change opinions of those who dwell in the past.
Is Barnes warming up?
He was. Is he your exit, stage left?
NOW Moreland hits.
Where was that earlier 2-Bags?
Now he hits a double
Where was that last time, Mitch?
I'm simultaneously happy and annoyed that Moreland got a double now.
These doubles and home runs are well struck but poorly timed tonight.
There's no way Hanley gets a hit and drives in the run here. I hope someone quotes this post to shame me if he does, but it won't happen.
how was that ball hit so weak? holy fuck
How many foot pursuits do you think that cop gets into?
Apparently Karl Ravech thinks Big Papi is a Jamaican
Getting Hanley off the roster and allocating any savings to a legitimate hitter has to be th2 biggest priority of the off season
Somehow it feels like we've "Crossed the rubicon" in this game.
Another one of those 1-6 with RISP kind of days.
Squander, squander, squander inning after inning. Nobody with a key hit so far tonight.
No one with a B on their cap anyway.
I love quiddish
It's particularly frustrating when a batter who's stranded a bunch of guys earlier in the game comes up with the bases empty and hits a rocket.
Is there any doubt the Twins get the second wild card and lose 12-0 to NYY.
Finally appropriate usage of Barnes
a little 30 minute rain delay could help us get the hitting together. probably talking out of my ass but we'll see
You're very narrow-minded if you think this is the only possible outcome. A close game where the Twins bullpen blows it is the other possibility.
This is a quick one. Literally started 4 minutes ago in Brookline like crazy and mostly over now
Joe Nathan retired.
How long has this rain delay been going on? Want paying attention and just noticed it's Padres twins on now.
lol, I considered putting his name in the post. I'm convinced that in my lifetime the Twins are 0-80 in meaningful games against the Yankees.
When is it again that Hanley is going to heat up? He's batting .239 yet our manager keeps giving him at bats so his option will vest.
I recently rewatched some of the 2004 ALCS...some comments to kill time during the rain delay:
1. Umpires are actually better now than they were then at calling outside balls / strikes correctly (and they're pretty bad now, I'm an advocate for robots). Even though there's no strike zone box shown on the screen, you know where it should be from experience. There were a ton of balls 3-4 inches outside that were called strikes, for both teams. (I should probably go back and watch some old Glavine games to fully appreciate this).
2. Compared to today's ESPN's broadcasts, McCarver and Buck sound like totally unbiased baseball scholars. Sure McCarver is dopey, but the two of them consistently comment on the nuances of what's happening in the game, and they talked about players from both teams. It's kind of like watching old footage of George W. Bush talk about politics today after getting used to Trump.
3. It doesn't matter how many times I watch Wakefield pitching the 13th inning in game 5 with Varitek catching...I'm still sure the Yankees are going to score.
SMASH ONE THE FUCK ON OUT OF HERE, ANDREW!
Just another tease of a multiple run inning.
What's that, 127 LOB?
What's the general consensus here on how sox fans feel about sox broadcasters? I know how you guys feel about ESPN & YES but never hear anything about NESN.
O'Brien makes me long for Kay
You could put nearly anyone with Eck and still get greatness. NESN accepted the challenge and hired O'Brien.
Eck and Remy are both professional and entertaining
DOB is professional but not entertaining
Gomes is amateur but fairly entertaining
Salty / Timlin are amateur and not entertaining
Todd Walker was here for one game and was fantastic.
And damn good looking in his lavender jacket.
One of those pop-ups and runners left in scoring position kind of days.
Nothing you can do against the A's elite bullpen
