Maybe no Robertson/Betances/Green for this one, so it's on Gray/Kahnle/Chapman, and then other guys will have to step up if Gray can't go deep (hello Ben Heller).
Didi and Ellsbury sit, Torreyes and Clint Frazier in:
T. Frazier 3B
C. Frazier LF
1-0, Dickerson sells out trying to get to the ball and it goes to the wall
Gray having a rough start: HR and double on 1st 3 pitches, 1-1
Tons of bugs flying around in the field tonight. I wonder if that's impacting both pitchers right now.
Gray in trouble in 5th, they had the corners with 1 out, he escapes
Snell gives up a single to Brett to lead off the 6th, and they pull him, hopefully a big mistake
Cishek mows us down
Gray gave up a lot of hard contact in the first couple of innings, but he has been awesome since then.
Clint Frazier has hit balls very well both his first two ABs, the second would have been a HR in Tampa or in Yankee Stadium.
About to board a flight to Boise, hoping we have a win when I land. And that I don't freak out. Hate flying about as much as I hate Girardi's bullpen usage.
Was that a strike to Frazier? Couldn't tell from here but certainly didn't look like one
Low, already below left knee when it entered the strike zone.
Didi's ensuing grounder to first probably would have been an easy double play, 3-6.
They going to change pilots halfway thru, putting a mediocre guy in for the turbulence.
It's a propeller plane over mountains. Not looking forward to this.
Gray makes his 2nd mistake of the night dammit
Al Leiter is so bad: "the only one I'd assume wouldn't be available would be Robertson". Well, yeah, except for Betances (29 and 24 pitches the last two days) and Green (47 pitches two days ago).
Also I know Ellsbury has been pretty solid lately, but I hate the pinch-hit for Clint there. The kid hit two balls on the nose, let him have another AB.
really annoying gut punch
Can't win games without scoring runs, at least Gray saved the bullpen, because they will be needed tomorrow afternoon behind Garcia.
Gray's complete game loss is just third of its kind in Yankees history against the Rays. Previous pitchers are/were CC Sabathia 7/21/11 and Orlando Hernandez 5/11/2000. Both previous times were in Tampa.
If you crash, look around for DB Cooper's suitcase.
NY has scored a total of 4 runs in Gray's 5 losses, he deserves much better.
Flight was smooth. Game was not apparently.
Someone start us up, day game today.
