DSL Sox are tied at 1. Win today and move to the Championship. Lose and go Home.

Playoff Races:

Pawsox Magic Number for the Wild Card is 2. If they Win tonight and Buffalo Defeats Rochester, Pawsox are in. There is no other scenario where the Pawsox will clinch today.

Pawsox are still alive for the IL East Title. They will need to complete a sweep of Syracuse to win the title.

Salem continues to get help and now has a Magic Number of 3 despite 2 losses. A sweep of Wilmington and a Carolina loss puts them in the playoffs tonight.

Lowell continues to have a Tragic Number of 1. A Loss or a Brooklyn Win puts them out of the playoffs.

The Sox get sac flies in each of the first two innings (Roldani Baldwin plating Carlos Tovar, then Gerardo Carrizales scoring Juan Hernandez), and they tack on another in the b-4th on a Luis Yovera triple and a passed ball.

DSL up 3-0 in the t-5th.

After trading runs in the 5th, the Royals have scored twice in the t-8th aided by two Sox errors. Ritzi Mendoza coming on in relief with a pair in scoring position and one out. D-Sox clinging to a 4-3 lead.

EDIT - Mendoza gets two ground-outs to end it, but the tying run scores on the first one.

Nice night at McCoy. Barnes gave up a solo shot in the first but has looked good otherwise.

Pawtucket got 2 b1 thanks to a double by Brentz. Marrero bobbled yet another ball, but made the throw for a close out at 1B.

Michael Taylor has been a one man wrecking crew for Syracuse. After homering in the first, he singled, stole second and scored in the 4th. 2-2 after 4.

Brilliant performance for Pat Light in Salem's doubleheader opener: 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 K.

Just 2 singles until the 7th when cleanup hitter Brett Eibner took him deep for a solo shot, as the Sox win 5-1. Would love to see his pitch counts.

Margot with a SF and a 2-run double, and Asuaje knocked in a pair. Vinicio & Matty J with 2 hits apiece.

I assume he's having trouble keeping the ball down? That's been a common thorn in his side, though absent for most of the 2nd half of the season.

Coyle with a double & solo HR for 2 of Portland's 4 hits on the day in a 5-1 win.

Carolina lost earlier today to Winston-Salem, so Salem's magic number is down to 1.

A win tonight in Game 2 (scoreless in the 5th) will get it done.

Pretty much. He looked fine the rest of the game with 10Ks, decent movement, etc. But he just went off the rails for an inning, and that was the game. JBJ still isn't hitting, and I know it is an extreme SSS, but Marrero has not impressed me at SS in the three games I have seen him.

With 2 runs scored today, Matty Johnson now has 103 on the season which leads the Sox system. Mookie ranks 2nd with 87, though on a rate basis he's hit the plate more often (once every 5.3 PA vs once per 5.8 PA for MJ).

Also the 2 RBI for Carlos Asuaje put him at 99 for the year, also a system high. Jantzen Witte is next with 93, and in slightly more PA (482 to 471). And I'd venture to guess that with Asuaje hitting ahead of Witte for most of their tenure as teammates this season, Carlos accounts for a decent chunk of those RBI by Jantzen. Rounding out the top 5 are Travis Shaw (78), Mookie (65) and Swihart (63).

Someone break out the defibrillators. Lowell is down to their last 6 outs, trailing 3-0 on one swing of the bat (a 3-run jack off Chandler Shepherd in the 6th). Is just one more miracle win from the Comeback Fairy too much to ask?

I'm not ready for their season to end. They've been a blast to follow this year, plus Brooklyn is losing (3-1 with 3 outs left).

EDIT - Nothing but gristle (4-3 GO, K, K). It's been real, boys.
