Playoff Races:

Greenville - It's complicated. They are 11 1/2 GB of Savannah for the second half crown. As long as it is Savannah they are behind, however, it is good, as Savannah WON the first half. So... the team with the second best OVERALL record in the division will gain a playoff spot. The Drive are 2 1/2 games back of Asheville for that spot.

Lowell is 3 1/2 GB of Tri-Valley for Stedler Division Crown. Lowell is 1 1/2 GB of State College for Wild-Card.

GCL Red Sox are in the Playoffs.

DSL Red Sox2 are in the Playoffs.

Moncada's Leadoff HR
I'm sitting next to Nip and told him I was posting the HR. 30 mins after it happens he posts the same thing.

I have no explanation.

Also, Greensboro is bad at baseball.

Edit: actually I think he tried to post the video. I don't feel bad because it appears I owe him a dollar.

Merging this thread and my "seeing the Spinners tonight" discussion, a few things:

Rodriguez couldn't find the plate last night.  The ump didn't help much.  Never seen so many 3-0 counts that did not end in walks, so I guess the Lake Monsters were helping as well.

Ockimey is a man sized human being amongst boys.  His HR to RF was a no doubter, but it was off of a fastball.

Basabe and Rei didn't play.  Matheny didn't show anything in his first 2 at bats.

Big star of the night:  Charlie Baker.  He threw out one of the 9 "first pitches" (got it over the plate, his Lt. Governor didn't reach the plate), followed by the ovation for Our Father, Sam Horn.  Baker was signing autographs behind the press box for at least 5 innings last night.

Note that may be of interest only to me:  Last time I was at LeLacheur Park (about 3 years ago), Mike Dukakis was present and chatting up everyone.  I wonder if Mitt Romney ever made it to a game?

Was surprised there was no pitch clock, then remembered that it's only AA and AAA this year.  Between innings minor league stuff is definitely compressed due to pace of game rules.
