Just awful by not only Hector but also too slow a hook by our manager.
I'm seeing 8 ER's on 9 hits in the box score. Pearce wasn't charged with an error on that?
It’s going to be awesome when they win this 10-9.
This does feel like fixing arterial bleeding with a band aid, but I’m happy to be proven wrong.
How long will it take Pomeranz to give up eight runs?
By making hitters hit ground balls that are outs in every other ballpark in MLB?
To be fair, pitching’s not his strong suit.
Scissors are his weapon of choice.
Every single one of those hits were meatballs. Yeah we had some bad luck but when you give up hard hits on turf that stuff is going to happen.
I mean you don’t want to yank your starter in the 3rd in the first game of a set. I think he gave him a reasonable amount of rope. Pom does need to actually warm up afterall.
Need a pick 6
Problem is by using Pom as the 2nd man in he had to wait for him to get warm. He's still conditioned as a starter. Although what difference would it make if he came in not warmed? He's been pretty bad anyway.
Maybe he decided that it had already unraveled so far that it wasn't worth rushing Pom's warmup to keep it from getting worse.
Why have they been trying so hard to avoid optioning Hector when they've needed to make roster moves?
Time for Patriots. See ya tomorrow.
Is this the night JBJ will get an inning in?
And there's the third out, 5 runs after the third out SHOULD have been made.
Great clubhouse guy. He makes them laugh
Hopefully it’s not a blowout in the late innings.
Kimbrel needs some work and it’s more likely he gets it if there’s a save situation.
Well it's easy to say that NOW. Fact is he's been performing quite well prior to this. And if Pearce gets the glove down, Hector is in the dugout with no runs that inning.
That’s out in the Red Sox bullpen, not against competition though, right?
Has Velazquez been stretched properly? I don’t know how easy a pitcher mindsets going 1 inning and many days later 1 or 2 innings and then starting a game.
I had the option of attending this game. I'm glad I passed. Between the uniforms and the snakebites. . .
Oh please, what? Kinsler and Pearce both barely missed outs coming off the turf.
again, this is the first game I can remember all season that's gone like this. one mistake that just blew up into 5 runs.
If our #8 starter doesn't perform better than this, we're in serious trouble in the post-season.
JBJ with the worst luck forever.
We lost that trade so badly.
I can't believe they still have that Pearce screwup as a single in the box. That HAS to be an error. Come on.
There were at least 3 just missed grounders where grass or a foot of pre-pitch positioning would’ve made them outs. You’d take those kinds of BIP all day. I thought I was watching replays multiple times that inning.
Has Jackie gone back to the dugout and destroyed a water cooler or something yet?
Which one? And don’t say Beeks for Evo or you’ll be laughed out of the thread.
Thanks, that's what I think. Not that he's not second rate, but he's not as bad as he seemed tonight.
I mean if they can’t beat a team like the Rays, how are they going to compete in the playoffs?
can't really blame our situation on the ballpark when we're playing in the same conditions. Trop is shitty for its catwalk bullshit more than the turf.
lol sure. but again it comes into question, can we just not develop pitchers? and the Rays clearly can, and very quickly?
No one is making this argument.
You have to be able to miss bats once in a while. Tonight he couldn’t.
The Devil Dogs are fucking great at developing pitchers
Still way too early to determine that. Plus Beeks is pitching in an environment with ZERO pressure now. Makes a huge difference with a young guy.
No it doesn’t?
Boddicker for Schilling and Brady Anderson.
Because he's been effective out of the pen in Fenway?
Worked out in the end at least.
Good night Irene.
I had the Red Sox to win by 2 runs, this is on me.
So we’ve established that Pomeranz is still exhibiting symptoms of being a gas can.
