So you say the Sox signed him hoping he would be the average of his entire career? His time in Boston has been similar to his time there, very good at the end. Taken the dominant streak to get him to career average. He is pitching great now, that is all that matters

So after all that panicking in that game thread the other day they didn’t even lose the series. This team is a wagon.

Glad Mookie is getting his slump outta the way now....back up to 9.5 game lead (but only 8 in the loss column!).

This series was a lot like the Houston road series. Looked a bit outclassed in the first two games and it led to some concern that maybe the elite teams were a bit less flawed. Got down by two runs in game three, but came back for the win and then won game 4.

Maybe I’m looking at a different b-r page than you are. Also, average does have a meaning. Anyway, they win the next 2 series and they will have won or tied every series for the last 2 months.

Wpater!! So just to recap, the slump that we shpould all be wetting ourselves about has consisted of: • A 2-0 beautifully-pitched loss where the bats sucked, but we win anyway if JDM hits a double instead of into a double play. • A 5-4 loss against Corey Freaking Kluber where we had runners all over the bases all day long and had multiple chances to win the game late. • A 6-3 loss against a great team where we started Eovaldi and had our chances. • 9-4 and 7-0 beatdowns of a great team. /commits hara-kiri

but we still shpould be worried. this team can't win a series against the Astros or Indians. splits mean no success in October. /Shaughnessy

They have a mathematical shot of winning their 100th game on Labor Day. The last time a Red Sox team won a 100 games, the ink wasn’t dry on most of the players discharge papers from World War II. These guys got a chance to do it on fucking Labor Day!

Like I said... when this team scores more than 4 runs a game...no problem. In the regular season with teams like our next few opponents...not much of a problem. In the playoff we will face better pitching and longer line-ups. Games tend to be lower scoring and often settled by one or two runs. That's where I worry about this team. I hoping the addition of Eovaldi, Pom and Wright to the pen will stabilize a shaky group that is going to be important in the postseason. That and a healthy Chris Sale. A ten game lead on Labor Day is what I hope for. Water....

The Red Sox coming back to split the series was impressive. Price pitching a masterpiece against a very good Cleveland team was the cherry on top. I am a big fan of post All Star break Price.

Mark my words. This is the worst 90 win team in the league by a wide margin. I will not be the least bit spurprised when they end up playing the WC game and get bounced before even playing a legit playoff series. This team has no shot against good teams where they need to both outhit and outpitch the competition all at once.
