Really brought that Chico Carrasquel down to earth
Can everyone relax now? Seriously, this was an important win. Not because of the standings or anything, but because there was a bunch of Jimmy Fund kids at the game, and they got to see the Sox win.
And they got that game back they lost last night with the MFY no show in Miami.
NESN says the Red Sox are the only team in the majors who hasn't lost 4 in a row all year.
When did the Yankees ever lose 4 in a row?
Oh, right. When we kicked their asses all over Fenway and swept them 4 straight.
They are only 50 games over .500. You can be complacent but the big collapse is right around the corner.
I admit to feeling much better. Good game, tho I resent the Henbree HR to EE and wish somehow BJ could get the win.
Water, lost 4 of last 7 and lost a 1/2 game on the yanks and we stand a good chance of losing the series tomorrow!!
I Love this DIRTY WATER TV!
This. You guys can yuck it up all you want but the Sox 2018 loss total went up by over 8% this week. Statistically, they are in a free-fall.
Hold for Workman and Barnes with the win.
Home town scoring there. Workman was hold eligible so Barnes gets the win so that two different players get a stat.
clearly we shpould all still be worried.
You gotta stop with them sarcastic negative waves Moriarty because that's bad juju; 1972, 1974, 1977, 1978 and 2011 say hello.
Can breathe again, Water!!!
I’d love to know the story here. I’m assuming it’s a nervous tic, but perhaps he suffered an injury at some point.
Till tomorrow. Nightmares can creep up on you.
Great interview with a MD from the Dana on how the Jimmy Fund has actually saved lives with beautiful stories of concept to clinic to sometimes cure. I’m in this field there are great things happening.
When I was an undergrad at BU in the ‘80’s the Jimmy Fund was already established. The Dana Farber Cancer Institute is potentially the best clinical research center on the planet and a lot of that success is a direct result of the Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund.

Send Rehak back to AAA! Better not see him behind the plate again!
Do people really believe that words typed on a sleepy internet messageboard, sarcastic or otherwise, will impact the outcome of real live professional (or even amateur) sporting events? I mean, we joked about 1978 on Sons Of Juan Beniquez back in the day so maybe that impacted things a little but otherwise I am not buying it.
So sayeth the poster who started the Fireball Fred Wenz Splooge Thread
The pride of Bound Brook New Jersey (or God's Country as we call it around...well, God's Country). I mean, if you can't splooge over old Fireball, when can you splooge?
Check this out:
I was at the game last night and sat my ass down in a vacated seat behind home plate in the 7th inning. Melky struck out looking on a Workman curveball, a definite strike, and as soon as he was called out he got in Leon's face for a second. No idea what that was about, or if you could see it on TV. But it definitely happened. The guy sitting behind me saw it too and said, "Huh. That was weird." I said, something like "yeah. You saw that too?"
We speculated what it might have been about, but decided we didn't know. Leon, to his credit, acted as if he didn't even notice.
Understood and I totally agree (thank you 2004, 2007, 2013), but sometimes old habits die hard.
Thank you indeed! Those seasons exercised so many painful ghosts as well as rituals.
You're telling me, 86 years of pain, two grandfathers and four uncles who never got to see it. Let's ride your reverse angst all the way to another one.
I told you we pwned Carrasco.
All I can picture right now is a bunch of ghosts of dead old people running on treadmills, and it is hilarious.
I prefer exercise to exorcise mostly because I think spiritual fitness is largely a function of health.
