NY's season high is 31 games over .500, which they hit last week just after the trading deadline and just before they shit the bed against BAL (thanks Sonny) and then four times against BOS (thanks everyone else), five straight losses which pushed them back to 26 games over .500.

Well, four wins later and they are in position to get back to 31 games over with a win tonight, current staff ace Masahiro Tanaka (0.46 ERA in his last 3 starts, and 26 Ks in 19.2 innings) faces lefty Mike Minor. Minor doesn't have much history with Yankee batters, but he has faced Stanton 29 times, 4 HRs, 8 walks, 4 other hits, and a 1.470 OPS. Hit someone good behind him tonight, Aaron, Hicks maybe.

    7 PM EST.

Gleyber hasn't hit leadoff or second yet but I think he has all the other spits covered.

I don't know if 'hot' exists, what is clear is that if you refuse to believe it exists and don't play people on hitting streaks, that damn well will kill the streak...

It’s not that, he is terrible against lefties.

Walker is 8-46 for the season against lefties, .174 BA and .507 OPS.

This Texas team was leading MLB in runs scored since the ASB at 7 per game before today, they won 9 of their previous 12 too including a sweep of Houston.

Walker did homer last night against a lefty. In his career, he is clearly a better lefthanded hitter but he has hit .259 in 1,014 PAs from the right side, .682 OPS.
Maybe you need to let Walker ride out his hot streak instead of benching him for a fat guy.

No, it is, Tanaka had a great month before this. Like I said, Texas has been crushing lately.

Seriously it’s like people forget all they know about baseball no matter how many years they have been following it. 72-42 but too many people act like we’re 10 games under .500.

Ronald Guzman is the first player in history to homer against NY in his first four games against them.

Coup is a special case. He lives in a constant world of doom. It's called New Hampshire.

sad and ugly and yes, I don't give a crap how good the records are of the teams that come in 2nd or 3rd in their division, nobody cares or remembers 2 years later

Best chance to get an out is when the outfielder throws home.

Right, like last year. Oh, wait.

On July 19, 1961, the Yankees dropped two games to the Washington Senators, the second by a 12-2 margin. Yanks won 109 games that year. Coup was 14 that summer. He locked himself in the basement for two weeks.

The difference is the Red Sox are going to win their game, well besides being a billion games ahead still either way.

Guys, I’m starting to dislike Boone. I’ll plant that seed and see if it grows. I just can’t understand anything he does from the lineups to the bullpen moves to the decisions to leave struggling starters in. He’s likable and the players seem to all like him but I’m slowly turning on him.

He's what I expected, mediocre at best. The lineups I think are fine and not totally under his control, but the in-game decisions have not inspired confidence most of the year. I would be fine with firing him, honestly.

Here is Luke Voit's big chance. And he bloops a single to center, his second single this week. 9-4 game.

During this call to the bullpen, I have a question for Sox fans who may be lurking: What kind of contract will Mookie get offered this winter?

Thanks. It's nuts how much he could get offered.

Back to the game. Guzman hits his third homer of the game. 10-4.

I think so. But as of right now, he’s still under control. If he goes to FA, I hope they open the checkbook.
