Jonathan Singer @Jonathan_Singer

Henry Owens, Brian Johnson, Sean Coyle, Blake Swihart and Derrik Gibson all named EL All Stars. #RedSox

Man, how gratifying is that for Gibson and Coyle after all their struggles? At age 24 and in his 3rd season at AA, Gibson (2008 2nd rounder) is finally putting it together and looking like a Brock Holt supersub, playing 2B-3B-SS-LF-CF-RF. I'm not saying that's his future either here or elsewhere (pretty sure he's a MLFA at season's end), but he's certainly helped his chances of filling a Justin Henry/Mike McCoy role for the PawSox or some other AAA club next year.

So what's the most likely place Barnes ends up in the rotation or the pen? Does he have a decent 3rd pitch yet?

I've always thought of him as a 2-pitch guy and when I saw him pitch for UConn vs. South Carolina back in the CWS, he seemed like a great potential reliever to me. Threw heat up to 98 in the first inning and had a nice curve that he dropped on a few RHB's. Then 2nd time through the order South Carolina started hitting him pretty well.

Am I being inpatient? He's not having the results that Webster, Renaudo and DeLaRosa are.

Fixed. Thank you. Please give us a scouting report.
Anything for you Cuzittt! Thanks again for all your work in this thread! Needless to say i jinxed him... that or for whatever reason the BMets have Portlands number... he was hitting 92 on his fastball from what i saw and left a lot of stuff up to get killed obviously. BMets were hitting him hard even some of the outs were quite loud. Saw an Owens start earlier in the season where they were seemingly the only team that could score on him so they do something right. Hoping to see him again or against someone else to get a better read on him.
