Salem scores the first run... and then nothing else good happened, downed by Lynchburg 8-1 in a game ended by rain after eight innings.

    Boxscore

Kevin McAvoy was knocked for five runs (four earned) on three hits, two walks, two hit by pitches, and FIVE wild pitches over five frames; whiffing a quintet. Yankory Pimentel yielded three runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks over 2 1/3 innings; striking out one. Jake Cosart picked up the final two outs – one by way of the K – while giving up one walk.

Tyler Hill hit three singles and stole one base in four trips. Brett Netzer notched two singles in four battles. Michael Osinski obtained a single and a walk in four opportunities. If you think McAvoy's five wild pitches were as bad as it gets... let's just say there is worse to come.

Game two of the double-header, making up a rain-out from July 22, made it into the third inning before being suspended. Irony!

The game will be continued today (assuming better weather) with the Drive down 4-1. Asheville will have a runner on third with out out in the top of the third.
