Ball has had a couple of good starts in a row (soxprospects.com Player of the Week) - hopefully he's turning the corner now.

GCL Sox won 17-0. Devers with another nice game, 2-5 and a BB.

Anybody know anything about RF Joseph Monge, a 17th round pick in 2013? He was awful last year but in 11 games so far is sporting a .308/.426.590 line with more BBs than Ks and five steals. That's obviously a tiny sample in the GCL but maybe a kid to watch.

Alex Hassan quietly up to 271 / 368 / 402; he's been on fire since returning from his cup of coffee. Maybe they should have kept him up. Good to see him reestabishing himself as a candidate for Gomes' roster spot next year, if he doesn't resign (They should resign Gomes).

Yeesh, so much for Ball's short streak of not-awful results. Four walks in four innings, just one strikeout. His peripherals are a gigantic bummer.

A bunt double to the pitcher????? How is that possible? Maybe he kicked it into the dugout while trying to field it?

It's very interesting looking at the game in sections.

He was getting hit like crazy in the 1st. In fact, all 4 of the hits he gave up were in the first. Also his WP.

He had an easy 2nd (2 ground outs and a K).

The 3rd was bizarrely easy (HBP, Fly out, DP)

Walked the first batter he faced in the 4th... but then a pop up and 2 fly outs.

Then he comes out in the 5th and walks all 3 batters he sees. Screams fatigue to me.

Game Story

Trailing 6-5 entering the ninth, the Drive sent five men to the plate in the frame and all of them reached base against Jake Smith (2-4). Carlos Asuaje began the frame with a laser up the middle for a single, and Manuel Margot's bunt attempt deflected off a diving Smith's glove, putting runners at second and third. Following an intentional walk to Jake Romanski, Zach Kapstein tied the game with a single to left, and Guzman, playing his first game with the Drive, lined a single to set off a massive celebration.
