With his fifth home run today, Danny Diaz has already reached a standard rarely reached by DSL Red Sox. Since 2010, only two players for a DSL Red Sox squad have hit more than five homers in a season: Victor Acosta who walloped eight in 2013 and Stanley Espinal who stung six in 2015. Two others have hit five homers in a season, Espinal's 2015 teammate Juan Barriento and Roberto Duncan of the 2012 DSL squad.

To put Diaz's current power into more perspective, last season's DSL squad (which went 47-24 by the way) had a total of eight homers.

Ivan Houellemont is a riddle wrapped inside an enigma wrapped inside a huge question mark. While three games is barely a sample size, his 0-for-9 with 6 Ks thus far is oddly reminiscent of last season. Where, in his first twelve games of the season, he went 0-for-31 with five walks, 2 HBPs, and a SF with 14Ks (.000/.179/.000). Despite that start, he ended the season with a respectable line of .285/.379/.349.

Wow.

With 2 DSL teams, are there measurable odds that 1 or 2 players will ultimately make the big leagues either here or with another team?

I looked at the 2012 team at random and see Manny Margot played there and is the only one in BOLD FACE to have made the majors. I recognized Raymel Flores's name from the Wade Miley trade

2010 had Raul Alcantara (traded for Andrew Bailey), Xander, William Cuevas, Frankie Montas and Nefi Ogando make the bigs, so I guess the odds are better than I thought
