Four shutout innings for Ball today.  He didn't come back out after a rain delay.
According to SoxProspects, Ball set Salem record for consecutive scoreless innings, which is currently at 15.2 I believe.

SP also said that Owens threw something like 22 curveballs.

Really nice to see a bounceback start from Owens.  He had a strong ERA in May but it was a mirage with a 23/18 K/BB.  Through three starts in June his ERA is almost double but the K/BB is a much more respectable 16/8.

Marrero heating back up in June as well.  If he can just prove he's a mediocre hitter at the MLB level, some other team will get some real nice value out of him.

Also - Jonathan Aro now has a 23/1 K/BB ratio in 18.1 IP in Pawtucket.  Extreme flyball pitcher though with 0 HRs allowed suggests he's living in a bit of a lucky streak, but with the Sox pen as big of a mess as it is, I think you have to try to find help wherever you can.

Pitching convert William Jerez continues to dominate as well - 48.2 IP with a 53/12 K/BB, 1.35 GO/AO and a 1.66 ERA.  Hard not to like that.  Yes he's old but that's still very impressive for a late-career conversion to the mound in his first taste of full-season baseball.  Has anyone seen him live yet?  Would be great to understand what his stuff looks like.  The Soxprospects page doesn't tell much.

I've always tried to keep up with Jerez since the draft.  There would be wonderful irony surrounding a Sox star who credited his baseball development to Hank Steinbrenner's 18 and under summer league. Please keep rolling, William.

Is there a better website than milb.com? They have a hard time following Jerez and it's kind of annoying.

Ball has been pretty good over the last 6 or so starts. Apart from one bad game, he's gone 26IP giving up only 1ER.
