If that Brasier guy can save Maddox from walking the tying and go-ahead runs on with nobody out against the loaded Yankees AAA team, maybe he can help the Red Sox at some point.

Jalen Beeks survived a rough first – three runs on a single and bombs by Clint Frazier and Greg Bird – by yielding only an unearned run on four hits over his final five frames. Beeks whiffed six. Hector Velazquez tossed a 1-2-3 seventh with a K. Austin Maddox made his second rehab appearance a wild one, walking four and striking out one in his one inning and two batter stint. Ryan Brasier held the Rail Riders off the board with a quick seven pitch ninth, inducing a double play and then a fly out to secure the win.

Ramon Flores flipped a single and a double while drawing a walk in four forays; he also stole a base. Cole Sturgeon stung a pair of doubles in four at-bats. Mike Olt obtained a walk and a moonshot in his four matchups; Olt scored the winning on run on a fielder's choice after his walk in the eighth. Aneury Tavarez tattooed a tater in the seventh, his only hit in four attempts; he also added a stolen base. Dan Butler earned two base on balls in four appearances. Mike Miller was unable to reach in three ups. Ivan De Jesus, Sam Travis, and Tzu-Wei Lin each had four terrible trips.

I missed the very start of this. Was Pedroia's absence from the lineup explained?
According to the PawSox notes, it was scheduled off.

He appears to be on a two day on, two day off schedule right now. He was in the lineup last Monday and scheduled for Tuesday (rained out)... then played again on Friday and Saturday.

I assume he will be in there again tomorrow.

Salem holds the Keys to defeat Frederick, 5-1.

Tanner Houck held the Keys to one run on five hits and three walks over six innings. Houck was able to induce double plays in three consecutive innings to help his cause. Yankory Pimentel yielded four hits and a walk in his unscored upon three frames.

Santiago Espinal slammed a solo homer and two singles in five excursions. Chris Madera managed a pair of singles in four matchups. Brett Netzer notched a single and a double in five at-bats. Jordan Wren singled in the ninth after replacing Ryan Scott who walked once in three sessions. Bobby Dalbec delivered a single and a walk in four trips. Tyler Hill walked once in four treks. Roldani Baldwin and Jerry Downs each took a base on balls in five jaunts; Baldwin adding a stolen base. Jordan Procyshen suffered four futile forays.

Hildemaro Requena relinquished eight runs – five earned – on eight hits – including a Chad Spanberger cuadrangular – in his 35-pitch inning of work. Hildemaro struck out two. Angel Padron allowed an unearned run on a hit and two hit by pitches over four frames; whiffing four. Dominic LoBrutto gave up a hit and a walk while striking out one over two scoreless innings. Juan Florentino flung two innings and two batters, yielding two runs on five hits, a walk, and a hit by pitch while whiffing two. Florentino yielded a Ramon Marcelino roundtripper with two outs in the ninth to re-tie the game... and was unable to get an out in the 10th.

Lorenzo Cedrola and Victor Acosta each accumulated three singles in six ventures. Zach Sterry stung a single and a double while drawing a walk in six sessions. Michael Osinski, Marino Campana, and Kervin Suarez each slugged a pair of hits in five matchups; Osinski with a double, Campana and Suarez each with a dinger. Frankie Rios ripped a single and a double in six at-bats. Everlouis Lozada laced a double and drew a base on balls in five excursions. Samuel Miranda was unable to reach in five frustrating forays.
