But the Sox are better (I think). Let's not get swept at home by a team with an elephant mascot.

I endorse the message regarding game result but regarding mascots I think people living in fuzzy green monster houses shouldn't throw stones

Yeah, elephants are my favorite animal, which is why it's an outrage to make replicas of them out of polyester. Wally is sillier, but at least he is not an insult to walls.
But, I see at least some are now realizing that the A's are for real.
I didn't see most of the game, but the Betts failure to catch the ball in the first was a deflating surprise, and I must have still been awake, b/c I saw the 10D screw-up at third base. I don't want to see those things, and the Sox need to do better. Starting tonight.
While I still had the TV on, I saw NESN more than once showing Chris Sale's face. I have no idea what pearls were issuing from the booth maws, since the OB/Gomes combo is unlistenable, but it was hard not to imagine that Chris Sale was having gloomy thoughts. I know I was.
I want the Sox to Geaux, but not to Press. So hard not to get worse when you're going bad.
    Team meeting??????

I'm worried about facing Cahill. Please play Holt at 2nd, and something like Betts, TenD, JDM, Moreland, Bogey, Devers, Holt, Leon, JBJ as the lineup. DISCUSS!

Fucking Oakland. The Sox never play well against them. Or at least it feels that way. No matter how good or how bad either team is, the A's always beat us and make us look terrible doing it. If you gave me a ticket for Fenway to watch Oakland I'd probably turn it down no matter how much I miss watching games at Fenway. I just can't take that aggravation in person.
It's like some short sighted fool made a pact with mystical forces after the 1990 playoff embarrassment that the Sox would always beat the A's in the post season, the trade off being they A's would always win in the regular season. Unfortunately the damned idiot didn't take into consideration the possibility that the A's would be mediocre to less than that more often than not since then, so all we got out of this bargain is one improbable comeback series.
At least after tonight the crap is over for another season and we can move on. So just get this damn game over with.

The A's are the only team with a winning record against these Red Sox. They might be good.

Still, not so good they should be able to sweep us.

I just can't get mad at the As or indeed any team on a low budget with a classy outfit and a laid back vibe

But tonight let's C if we win one for the Bs so we can all avoid being D flated

And please no more F-ing E's from our infielders. Geeeee

I blame Gomes. After going 3-0, he has lost 4of the last 5 while in the booth.

    More Guerin, less Gomes.

(By the way, what did she do to her foot? It seems that woman has been on the DL more often than Pedroia these last two years)

Why not Holt over Nunez? Better choice on both sides of the ball vs. Cahill.

Why is Vazquez back to catching Sale? It seems even more clear after the last two outings that Sale is much better with Leon catching him.

The only possible explanation is a wish to ease Holt back into games after his injury. Otherwise, I agree with you and am disappointed.

He does seem to be overly in love with "Swing at anything" Nunez.

Well, Nunez has hit Cahill better than anyone else on the roster who has more than 2 ABs against him.

Devers causing fielding issues even when he doesn't touch the ball.

In my opinion, HOLT is better defensively than either Nunez or Devers. But Judy B had some good info above.

This Red Sox philosophy of “wasting pitches” way up above the zone seems counter productive.

    Nice K.

Yeah, I might have gone with Holt at 2B and Nunez at 3B, but if Sale can keep striking 3 out every inning, he could make the defense not matter.

JD sure is lousy at defense, which is killing his WAR, but he is now a top-5 offensive player by wOBA and wRC+
