Ryan Brasier brought it with a 1-2-3 ninth, two outs by way of the K.

Portland gets a run in the bottom of the seventh to send the first game to extras... only to have Lau lose it in the eight; Sea Dogs surrender 6-1 in 8.

Boxscore

Dedgar Jimenez (after waiting out four postponements) got the start and went three innings, yielding a run on a hit and two walks while striking out four. Matt Kent followed with three scoreless frames, allowing three hits and a walk while whiffing a quartet. Adam Lau had an easy time in the seventh with a 1-2-3 innings including a K... but the 8th was far more difficult. Lau gave up four consecutive hits – a 2-run homer to Chris Gittens (scoring the ghost runner), a single to Bruce Caldwell, another jack to Jhalan Jackson, and then a triple to Ben Ruta. He was able to get an infield popout to get the first out of the inning, then a sacrifice fly for the second out and fifth run. He was replaced by Yankory Pimentel after giving up another single. Pimentel struck out the only batter he faced.

Former Cincinnati Red Tony Renda had a perfect debut for Portland with a double and two walks in three trips. Tate Matheny managed two singles in three matchups. Jhon Nunez notched a double and a sacrifice fly in three jaunts. Danny Mars obtained a base on balls in three attempts. Nick Lovullo laid down a sacrifice bunt in his three tries. Cole Sturgeon contributed a walk in four sessions. Josh Ockimey was unable to reach in three ups. Josh Tobias and Jeremy Rivera each struck out twice in their four futile forays.

Trevor Kelly struck out two in the seventh, giving up a single.

Josh Tobias topped a single and a double and walked twice in his four jaunts. Cole Sturgeon and Jeremy Riviera each roped two hits in four sessions; Sturgeon with a two-run homer which put Portland on top for good in the sixth.
