GAME! BLOUSES! BROOMS!
And he seemed engaged on bench.
So amazing to watch Hayward play like this again.
Good series for the much-maligned Marcus Morris and Terry Rozier. They earned their minutes.
Bummer. But good for the guys to get the rest.
that is just bananas. I'm so happy he isn't doing that shit to us this year
I remember a clever quote from the 90s'
College 40 minutes of hell - Arkansas Basketball
Pro 40 minutes of hell - the last 90 seconds of an NBA game.
Knew they’d take series but would not have guessed it would be a mostly comfortable (by playoff standards) sweep while the Bruins look like the garbage team in town.
18-52 for starters - 61 points.
18-26 for reserves - 49 points
This thread is gold. Cs sweep capped off by a gritty game where Mook and Rozier played well and there is still handwringing. The Cs fanbase understandably has PTSD from this season...
The Pacers aren't that good and Brad's proclivities to not take TOs and play Mook regardless of how well Brown plays are still on display.. against a better team things will matter more. I know it's a sweep, but Indiana has basically no scorers minus Oladipo.
Bruins are playing a much better team than the C's competition... and at least the B's aren't Tampa Bay..every game has been close.
Playoff hockey puts me outside my mind.
Morris was in there to help tend to the defensive backboard. He's a better option when Indy goes big and Baynes isn't in the game. He came through in the fourth, going three for three, with two triples, and two defensive rebounds.
Morris played 3.5 more minutes than Brown today and it was entirely defensible. In the 2nd and third games Brown played five and 11 minutes more than Morris respectively. In the first game of the series, Morris clearly outplayed Brown and played one minute and twenty nine seconds more than him.
Are you arguing that Morris should not play period? What did Stevens do wrong with the minutes distribution in this series given Smart's absence? I am very curious how you would do things differently.
As far as timeouts and "working the refs" go, I will sit that out. I am ok with how Stevens manages those things but we simply don't have any data that supports a position one way or another.
I guess my argument is more with the way you posted.. as if there's no reason to be hand wringing. You are correct that having Smart out does make the job much tougher and Morris has played well-ish. I think people do have PTSD from the season because Brad has tended to go with Morris first this season regardless of what Brown has done. Brown had one of his best games last game shooting well and shot well tonite, but sat basically the entire fourth quarter today.
With that said I haven't looked at the numbers.. especially rebounding and three point percentage..but to my mind Brown is the better defensive player, but I also haven't looked at the matchups yet...but it's a game thread so I/people react.
The Celtics scored 37 fourth quarter points with Kyrie and AL going 0-4 from the field. Morris shoots, 3-3, Hayward, 3-3, and Tatum, 2-3 go 8-9 in the quarter to shut the door on the Pacers, putting up 29 clutch points to Indy's 20 before all the garbage time FTs in the last 64 seconds.
You are correct that Brown is a superior defender - Morris was abysmal during the season but seems to be locked in more now.
IMHO, this was a great series win, Stevens did a good job and the team played well. Indiana was dangerous not because they had a good offense - they clearly do not given Oladipo's absence - but they were a top three defensive team and one of the best defenses in the playoffs. That the Cs handled them fairly easily is encouraging to me because they did it with mostly great balance. From where I sit, they really couldn't have played much better.
First world problem incoming. I’m a little annoyed about a playoff basketball game being played on the afternoon of Easter Sunday.
Good win, I’ll try to watch a replay.
Awesome. Reminds me a bit of the Eddie House behind the back save while falling out of bounds setting up a dunk circa 2009 (I think).
He was the best player on the floor in the 4th quarter of a close out postseason game.
Do same rules apply for game threads in playoffs? I was thinking to start the next one sooner so we can start chatting about it.
