Between here and everywhere.
This actually makes a lot of sense, because if the Sens had immediately picked the puck off Acciardi, marched down ice and scored, you bet your ass that goal wasn't going to be overturned despite the fact that the play should have been dead from the offsides.
That's actually an interesting point -

Say that scenario happens, the Bruins are offsides and the play should be called dead, but isn't. If the Sens pick off a point to point pass, and score on the breakaway, can the Bruins challenge and say the play shouldn't have counted? Is that a loophole in the system?

You know, the way they make the offsides/replay rule even slightly palatable is make it similar to a delayed penalty. The second the defensive teams has any sort of possession, any offsides entry is null and the play counts.
I like it, excellent idea.

Who says it even needs to be on the next Bruins possession? Why not just let that offsides sit out there until the next whistle, so if any team scores prior to the next whistle, either one of them can call for a review. Could be 10 minutes after the offisdes, and 40 different possessions, but it should still work the same way.

Fuck this podunk bullshit league. The fact that they are so starved for adding goals they are thinking of changing rules that have existed for half a century but pull a goal off the board in the playoffs because of an offsides a full minute before the actual goal is so bullshit it makes me want to punch a puppy

It's 100% guys sitting in a fuckin office in Toronto trying to justify their existence by solving problems that don't exist.

Shit that would be an awesome challenge by Boston.

McAvoy is starting to step up and carry the play more. Like he's realizing that not only does he belong in this league, but that he's one of the better players in it.

You'd have to tell the guys in the league office what "scenario," "loophole," and "system" mean before they could answer your question.

California. Duh.
I'm getting really fucking sick of getting alerts from the NHL app that the Bruins scored while I'm heading home from work, only to turn on the TV when I get there and find it's been taken off the board.

Wouldnt the offsides get washed a out once everyone cleared the offensive zone?
The thought is that the play should have been called dead the second the Bruins possessed the puck inside the offensive zone while off-sides, so the clock needs to be reset to when the offsides happened any anything that occurred after is void.
