The Sens lost a home game and barely won another against a team missing 4 defensemen and a top 5 point producer. Assuming people actually get right, I feel pretty good about this series.

Marchand on the failed clear? Fuck. He also should have just taken it to the corner when he was 1 on 7 on the short handed rush. Instead he got picked clean and it went the other way

Morrow and Miller ignore Burrows standing right in front of Rask.

Either one of the D needs to get healthy or they need to use Cross, AND Playoff Krejci needs to get in the lineup.

I hate everything about when Canadian teams win at home in the playoffs. They win a game and they act like they just won the Cup. Saw it in Montreal last night and just now in Ottawa

Disappointing for sure, but I didn't think they played poorly. Hopefully they get some reinforcements on Monday.

Honestly, when Morrow is your #2 D, you're not killing too many penalties. The Chara penalty was a killer. Who's next up if miller, Carlo and McQ are out? Cross? He may be better on the Pk than Morrow

Chara made a rookie mistake in his 19th season. Everything else is subterfuge.
Can't have your captain playing hot potato with the puck with no one else within 15 feet.

This is on Chara 100%

Also, Kuraly needs to be benched. That play can't happen.

Replace him with anyone. Sign Bjork, bring up Debrusk, Heinen or Simpson. Anyone.

Agreed. At the same time, you know he'll take full responsibility.

What's the deal? Doth I continue for Monday's game?

How much depth would be satisfactory? This situation is a bit of an outlier.
Yeah, it's not really a depth issue right now.... they just had a bunch of D-men (and Krejci) get hurt at the wrong time. Which is annoying because it seemed like they spent most of the year relatively healthy.

Defensively, sure. Offensively? This team is the same as it ever was. Past the two lines, their forwards look totally outmatched. Running Kuraly/Beleskey/Schaller out there against guys like Turris and MacArthur was never going to end well.

The only thing I will say is that after watch Ottawa quick change a lot of the game to wear the Bruins D down, with about 4 minutes to go I was waiting for Cassidy to call a timeout to give the D a blow. I don't know if it would have mattered, but it couldn't have hurt.

Depth didn't cause Chara to chip the puck over the glass. One of the worst plays in NHL history short of an own goal. It was a 50/50 game until Chara threw up.

This is the NHL in the cap era. The last two lines are always terrible. If Kuraly skates to that puck, he gets it 50% of the time and scores 10% of the time.

That play had shades of Dogman in 2013 vs the blackhawks.

Yeah. I don't want to sound like Mike from Woburn, but it seems like Boston sustains an injury in every fucking game vs Ottawa.

Someone should do something.

No, Cassidy isn't going to waste a timeout because his D may or may not be gassed and leave himself without a challenge in the last minutes. He made the clear a game or two ago.

It was that or pass out. 30 mins for a 40 year old.

There will be many momentum shifts in this series. At the end I believe the Bruins are the better team, but it will be a long tough series.

Krejci's games played as an NHL regular

82,79,75,79, 47 (lockout year), 80, 47, 72, 82

Only playoff games he missed before this series were 3 games after Richards destroyed his wrist.

Be tougher though! Lace 'em up!

Between here and everywhere.
I'm disappointed by the result, but not by the effort.

They're playing with 3 or 4 of their top 7 D out. They've played two games in a row with 5D for a majority of the game. They're on the road. The playoffs are hard.

Taking 1 of 2 is awesome, all things considered.

Biggest thing for this team in this round is health. If they get some of their key players back, they likely win. If not, they probably lose.

Dems da breaks.

Or Ice it, expend a lot more energy flipping it over the glass then you do just firing it down the ice.
I think he was trying to avoud the icing, and I think that his minutes made him sloppy with the attempt to blast it off the glass.
There were mistakes that led to goals, but I don't really think that anyone deserves much shit for this loss. Two road playoff games with 5 defensemen is a pretty tall order.
I do wish they had 2 days off before the next one.

They had zone possession during the PP expiring, no? That can fuck you up until you're able to change up to a fresh five.

Edit: no doubt it's an excuse, but it was a significant factor.

They're tied 1-1 after two road games in which they played their 7th and 8th D men & a kid playing his first two NHL games. They don't have their second line center. They lost the second game in OT.

I'll take 1-1, and I will say my prayers tonight for speedy recoveries for one or all of Krug, Krejci, Carlo and McQuaid.
