Was just coming to say the same thing. Was a Ryder Cup star as well as Open champ, but sure Paul.
Molinari carrying that 2018 momentum into 2019. He might be a guy who really did figure it out and sticks in the high tier for a while.
This looks over.
Another Sunday let down for Rory.
Edit: Someone needs to tell Azinger about Molinari’s Open Championship win. He really has no clue. Mentioned the Ryder Cup and the Italian Open.
Sorry - who is ‘Mexican Non-tipper’? I just am not familiar with that nickname.
Why does an event in Orlando in early March award places to the Open Championship in Northern Ireland in July?
It is part of the Open Qualifying series. They do this every year, but change the tournaments around. It is 12 events over the 6 major tours.
Tiger has arrived
When will Tiger realize that he does not look like a badass with the golf hat backwards and those stupid sunglasses? He looks like he's going to a Nickelback concert.
He loves Nickelback...just say’n
If only he dressed in argyle plus fours. Then he would show the sport the respect it deserves, and then maybe he'd win something!
I know that - my point was that it doesn't make any sense. Using events in the month between the US Open and the Open Championship mostly makes sense as an indicator of potential form...but Bay Hill, in early March? And I certainly wouldn't be picking the best three players who aren't already eligible - I'd stipulate that they also have to finish in the Top 5, otherwise the spot is filled through some other process (OWGR, alternates from final qualifying, etc.)
Frankly, I'd rather the Open just follow the lead of the Masters and award spots to tournament winners throughout the season, or across a chunk of the season (e.g., on both the European Tour and PGA Tour from January to July), than what we have at present. Or even just focus on the Irish Open and the Scottish Open and pick anyone who finishes in the Top 10 or even the Top 20 in those two weeks leading up to the Open, as proof that those guys can potentially succeed on links courses.
He generally dresses himself poorly when not wearing exactly what Nike tells him to wear. And even Nike hasn’t been able to break his relaxed fit pants preference.
You don't need to dress traditionally to not look like a fucking dork.
Tiger is playing with Table for One and Holier Than Thou.
Just show Tiger and ignore the other 2.
Also, I know it is the signature hole, but I don’t need to see every tee shot on 17.
Harris English with a Turkey Vulture on #11
What language are you speaking?
You don’t know Turkey Vulture? How much golf do you watch!?!
Honestly, a ton.
not sure i totally understand what that dude just said about Harold Varner, but will rush to judgement and say Harold Varner got screwed by a dumb rule.
I can see what the guy is saying, but it’s stupid that if it was constructed in the locker room and brought to him it would have been fine.
Spieth is still out of sorts. In 5 holes he has 2 pars, 1 birdie, 1 bogey and a double.
Watching Spieth suck is depressing.
I've never heard "Turkey Vulture" either, FWIW...but I am on the other side of the pond. We like to call them albatrosses over here.
I've been playing and watching a lot of golf for 50 years and its always been a double eagle to me. I've heard it referred to as an albatross on occasion, but that's the first time I've ever heard Turkey Vulture.
You guys claim you watch all this golf but yet haven’t seen a single commercial on the golf channel apparently.
You're just shaking. Me...
I've seen this commercial no less than 25 times
Only old people watch commercials.
In my defense (defence?), only people living in America can watch The Golf Channel.
I'm with Lomb here. Plus, it's albatross or double eagle.
Turkey Vulture is like a left handed smoke shifter. It doesn't exist.
would it be so hard for pgatourlive to sprinkle in a couple of different commercials
2 in the water for Tiger at 17. He was -5 and 2 off the lead.
Edit: and it’s a quad.
Furyk tied for the lead....tearing up the course right now
I thought we were done having to watch Furyk play golf. Sigh.
It looks like putting with the pin in just cost Furyk a birdie on 17
I actually thought it saved him par. It looked like that putt was coming in fast enough that it would’ve hopped over.
Me too. Only solace is that by the 4th hole on Sunday, he'll be 4 over on the day and we won't have to watch him after that
Fleetwood starts birdie, eagle, birdie to take a 2 shot lead.
I'm enjoying Faldo and Azinger and Tirico as a group.
And all the Hal Sutton highlights remind me that his nickname on tour was "Halimony" due to all his divorces. Potentially my favorite nickname of all time.
Kinda wonder if this will be Mickelson’s last competitive round at Sawgrass. He just doubled 3 to move to +3 and followed that up by rinsing one at 4, so barring a miracle he’s headed to his 6th MC in the last 7 years here. He publicly danced with not playing this year, but showed up enthusastically proclaiming he could win. Nope. I wonder if the Tour or sponsers nudged him to play this year.
Scott Brown always reminds me of Youk every time I see him.
Only 2 balls hit into the water at 17 today
Interesting, the cut just moved to -1. 87 players. It might flip back and forth this afternoon, depending on the weather.
Rory eagles 16 to get to -11. Dry on 17. Looks like another final pairing for him. He’ll finish one of these off sooner or later.
These 5 and a half hour rounds are just brutal.
