So, the Games are 14 hours ahead of US east coast time? So, the events that will be primetime live for us will be happening in 10 am until about 1 pm local time? In theory we could get some good events completely live.

That said, I haven't read too much about the broadcasting yet, but assuming the major events are late afternoon through early evening there, that means they'll be 3 am until like 8 am here.

Maybe we can use this thread to keep track of what's what while happening live and maybe another non-spoilered thread for those that are able to avoid results until NBC broadcasts it that evening?

    I heard they're showing live.

10am there, 8PM here previous day if my math is correct

Major question is for the US west coast

So they'll run the popular things around the US prime time? That puts a lot of Europe in the middle of the night.

The hockey schedule is bizarre, games either at noon or 9pm local time to fit into European or North American prime time.

I have a feeling they'll regret putting the gold medal game in North American prime time (the bronze is during European prime time).

Anyone else having trouble accessing the streams on nbcolympics? Chrome (on a mac) won't let me login with FIOS (this is a frequent issue for me, though, and i think it's a chrome-fios thing, not nbc), and safari keeps letting me login but then says I need to verify again. Shouldn't need access to their olympics channel to stream something on nbc sports, right?

edit: nm. seems that posting on sosh fixed the issue!

Here is an unbelievable video of 1200 drones flying in formation during the opening ceremonies:

(can we gripe here). I heard a rumor NBC was going to broadcast the opening ceremony tonight. After watching for a half hour, I am starting to wonder if we will see it, or just more BS

I have not been following closely, but switched on a few moments ago to catch the parade of nations. How come no one is at that stadium? It's spooky and weird. Norovirus?

I think the lower seats are for the athletes.

    Thanks.

My wife also just read that they are not mic'ing the crowd at all, adding to the "empty" feeling.

What's the record for medals in a Winter Games?

Would be funny if OAR broke that

    Drones were great.

There are people but each seat has an led screen in front of it. So you don’t see the people when they are lit.

Is there a way to stream events live, but audio only? I am going to be driving during some events I am interested in and don’t want to burn video levels of data to listen.

Where do we post about the carnage in halfpipe skiing? The 2018 Death Pool thread?

    Edit: halfpipe, not freestyle.

"America was watching"? The game ended at like 3am. I'm guess not much of America was watching at that point.
