Ok, so he thanked the coaches and the front office. Hopefully that puts the hare-brained alarmist nonsense here to rest, but I'm sure someone will find something to nitpick to death.

I love this message. Perhaps I'm naive, but I take it as being sincere. It's also consistent with nearly every interview I've heard from Tom. I wish I could find it on You Tube -- I've looked -- but Tom's reaction to winning SI's annual award was of similar nature, and is a great example of how one is supposed to behave when things go well. He's hardly the first person to thank people in his life who contributed to his success, but he manages to do it in a way that is very real. If he was reading this -- which he is and will not -- I'd want him to know, in turn, how grateful I am, and I think the vast majority of Pats fans are, for his super human efforts and focus, never mind his talent.

    (Late word choice edit)

The typos certainly lend it authenticity.

But what exactly do you mean by the thread title? Isn't this "TB thanks fellow stakeholders for a great season"?

You mean "TB Watch"? This would be the off-season thread for Brady. The Instagram post just kinda kicking it off.

There’s nothing to watch. Maybe TB discussion thread but my guess he has another top 5 MVP type season

I figured "TB Watch" was some Fitbit-like product TB12 was selling.

Title is definitely misleading. I expected a much more drastic message from TB where he indicated he was debating retiring, rather than the message he actually wrote.

"<person> Watch" usually means that someone is expected to make a major decision or have a life event shortly. Taking a job, signing a deal, getting traded, dying, or in Brady's case one would think "retirement".

The Gronk Watch thread is a case in point, as there have been numerous rumors of him contemplating retirement rather than take another season of pounding. And, verily, that subject is in the first post.

I clicked here expecting there to be at least some sort of smoke that he'd be retiring, despite previous statements to the contrary. I was pleased to discover otherwise, but the mere title gave me palpitations.

I love the message as well. Being able to find gratitude in all situations is amazing.
I laughed at all the hot takes about Brady being unsportsmanlike from the usual talking heads. I am sure they will spend zero time on the post because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

There's no age related restrictions on contracts right? So the Pats could give Brady a new 6 year deal even though it's obvious he won't play that long.

Liked how he praised the Eagles for being gracious winners. That makes up for running straight off the field, which I had no problem with. This isn't hockey. Super Bowl fields are bedlam after games.
Brady seems a little bit robotic to me in the way he controls his message to the public. But when you consider how often the news media and social media twist the message, maybe this is how Brady has chosen to handle public statements. Eliminate the middle man.

He ran straight off the field?

    Who was this then?

and afterwards who was this taking time to talk to a player that looked up to him?

The cameras showed Brady trotting off the field instead of seeking out a few opposing players. I would say the top photo is a case of one Eagle seeking out Brady. The bottom photo is pretty clear. Brady is already dressed.
As I said earlier, it's not a big deal. Super Bowl fields are bedlam after the game ends. I totally respect Brady. He hates to lose.

This thread seems as good as any other to post this, since a Pats coach is tangentially involved, and it’s interesting: Ray and Ross Ventrone’s father, also named Ray, was sentenced to 41 months in jail after he was busted for embezzling $1.5 million from the union he managed. Part of those funds were used to build Ross a “commercial-sized” private gym.

Typos? Do you mean the incomplete sentences? The use of 4 instead of typing out four? These are pretty common even with “professional writers. What else?

I don't know what you're asking me. Or what you're looking for with "what else?". I don't actually care if it was written by Brady himself or a professional, but it has the ring (ha!) of something written by the athlete, which I think makes it more of a nice gesture by him.

Any update on how it happened exactly? I can't recall (nor have time to scroll for) the specifics of the incident, some freaky helmet contact with his hand, right?

Also, Marcus Smart must feel some other kind of way at this point. Brady didn't miss a game.

What I read on reddit (forgive me) is that his thumb got caught on Burkhead's helmet and bent backwards so far that it caused the skin on his palm to split.

Good news, guys. ESPN the Magazine has the top 20 dominant athletes of the last 20 years...and Tom Brady is #2 overall.

Not sure why they put a zero after that #2 though. Maybe for like "0 QBs with as many SB wins" or "0 QBs with as many playoff or regular season wins"

(In all seriousness, I could see putting him behind several of the others on the list, especially those like the golfers or tennis players in the individual sports where it's easier to decode success than for a large team like in football...but really...he's 17 spots behind Peyton? I guess it must be because they only used regular season win shares/WAR/etc. )

ESPN is such a WAFTAM, I don't know why we even bother.

But if they only considered the "regular season", on what planet are the Olympics the "regular season"? Or the Masters, or the World Cup for that matter?

Manning is #3. They are the only 2 NFL players on the list. Also only 2 MLB (Bonds, Trout) and 1 NBA (LBJ). Lots of soccer, tennis and other sports like golf and auto racing (2). Also has female athletes in nearly half the positions.

Meh. I don't have issue with the inclusion of other non major sports or women - the list is predicated on "dominance" and absent the one woman from Rio, the majority of the others have had long runs of exactly that, dominating their sport. I do take issue with the order of the list. Manning at 3 and Brady at 20 is a goddamn joke and I'd feel the same even if I weren't a Pats fan. That's just ludicrous, I won't bore everyone by listing their resumes, we all know them.
