This is a very extreme nitpick and I am sorry, but will it mess up the scoring if there is no comma between Colt Knost and Jon Curran? I assume it won't mess it up but I wanted to just make sure.

Thanks very much for running this! My team is not good (which is why I need all the points I can get) but I'm looking to laugh at myself.

So I've been keeping track of times in between draft picks.

Here are the 5 best drafters:
1. John MD 15 minutes in between picks!
2. Leon Trotsky 31 minutes
3. BMHH 32.5 minutes
4. Vegas Sox Fan 1 hour 5 minutes
5. HeavyD 1 hour 14 minutes.

Well done gentlemen!!

Now for the 5 worst:
5. Zomp 6 hours and 2 minutes :( sorry guys.
4. DOTB 6 hours and 54 minutes in between picks. Lawyers are busy! This would have probably been worse if he didn't auto get Rob in the last round.
3. Jkelley 7 hours
2. InJacobyWeTrust 8 hours and 54 minutes between picks.

and, by far, the worst drafter in the history of our league...as well as a stiff who doesn't pay, is...

DaveStapleton. Coming in at a terrible, horrific, 13 hours in between picks.

Stapleton was a disgrace and he should immediately be removed from this league. Unrepentant, unconcerned, and a deadbeat. I would be happy to take over his team and I'll pay 500 dollars to do so, putting that money into the final pool. Yes, I'm offering to buy him out. Waiting for him was ridiculous.

Nothing worse than a selfish person who just expects everyone else to work around them. He should be gone. I'll willing to pay to make it happen.

I don't want back in, I decided this was too random even by fantasy standards but I am lost now following the leaderboards and not having anyone to root for

I would like to defend myself a little here. I'm basically never online during the day anymore. Literally never. I spent quite a bit of my day either in the car or at meetings outside of the office. I can't remember a post I made during the week on this site during a weekday outside of the golf draft, except for holidays.

Over the years, I have to rely on Zomp to text me when its my turn, and then I typically make my pick immediately or he'll give me a list of like 10 guys that are still available, and I'll pick one and he makes the pick for me. During one of my picks this year, Zomp texted me at 7:57 in the morning and said I was up. I texted him back and said I wouldn't be online until noon or so and he said he couldn't get me a list because he was on the road too. He didn't mention at the time that 20 hours had already passed before I got the head's up. If you eliminate that one pick from my rounds, I promise you it doesn't look nearly as bad for me. I've said for years that anyone can feel free to text me and let me know I'm up, Zomp is just the only one that's ever done it, but next year, I'll make sure you guys all have my cell number so it doesn't happen again. I was probably online the night before too, and it just didn't dawn on me that I might be up.

A draft thought for next year. I think the majority of us would all agree that it is advantageous to have a top pick. And as the guy that has historically had the worst pick on average what if we instituted a third round reversal draft rule.

So round one we draft 1-20
Round 2. 20-1
Round 3 20-1
And then in begins snaking after round 3. I think this might help level off the weight of the picks some

Thoughts?

There's literally zero reason to defend yourself, we finished on time, it's not a big deal. I don't know why so much time shaming this year, but it's pretty obnoxious.
Completely agree. We allotted extra time over the holidays and finished in plenty of time. The whining and sanctimony throughout the draft was worse than the waits themselves. I do like Zomps stats though, I think it’s funny.

When are we getting the power rankings?

Did you see this year's third round picks...woof....those aren't going to make a difference. If you don't get a top 7ish pick like we have never gotten, there is little chance we strike gold with a multi-event winner

I'd rather see draft order dictated by standings.
I don't hate this idea...if people agree picking at the top is an advantage and picking at the bottom is a disadvantage. Theoretically a snake draft reduces those advantages, so I don't want people picking in the middle just kinda stuck there forever.

I’d stick with random. Getting a top 5-10 player is an advantage, but those picks can still be fucked up.

I agree - the way we have been drafting for years works pretty well. Most years only a couple of guys really outpace the field points-wise. And several years the top pick or two in our draft has totally shit the bed and not really been a factor.

i agree that nothing should be changed to the way we draft....i think Dan and I are bitter and just like to complain about it because we have never been near the top

I don't think a number one pick has ever won this thing. Is that right?
Correct - I don't have my draft spot when I won it the first year, but I think I was round 6-8th spot. Other years 5, 2, 8, and 2nd draft spot has won it.

This is a league that no one get's rich from, and even the poorest performer still usually wins something.

For Example - from 2015-2017 - three years, there were 15 of us that were in all 3 of those years.

The least amount of money someone won was $100 - so they lost $200 total over 3 years.
The most amount of money won was $825 by two people - so they each won $525 over 3 years.

Outside of those 3 people the other 12 of us averaged between $41.67 and $216.67 per year in payouts.

The only times I've won anything more than my money back, I was picking 2nd. 2013 I took Tiger and 2015 I got Spieth. I'm pretty sure Rory went first in both of those years too. Is that right?

I don't agree and I also would like to see some other folks get a chance to have the best player in the world on their team. So yeah, it can still be fucked up, but it's not just about winning, it's fun being able to pick from the top 5 in the world. Some people in this league have never had that opportunity. This was the first year I was close to it and it was definitely more fun to draft the first round.

Fair enough, and I agree from a fun perspective, but I don’t think doing the draft by standings solves much? You can have good teams from the bottom and end up stuck drafting there, and have crappy teams from the top and keep getting the top picks year after year.

You had a decent team last year, no? So if we did it by standings you would still be in the back half of the draft? I don’t think there really is a good way to even it out so everyone had a chance at the top players over the course of a few seasons.

If you look at the top 20 point earners last year, a full half of them came from the 2nd round or later, and many came from the 3rd or later rounds. I really don't think getting a top 10 slot guarantees a whole lot, outside of drafting Spieth or DJ, and even DJ misses half a year or falls down some stairs every once in a while.
