rumors of the Jets wanting to get Cutler are just so...Jets. Go get 'em, boys.

So Revis hired Robert Del Greco Jr -- described as "the Steelers go-to lawyer."

That's fucking awesome. I didn't know the Steelers had a "go-to lawyer" ... I wouldn't have fathomed the need for such a fellow because ... well you know why.
I'm surprised the Steelers' fixer hasn't made the charges disappear by now.

I'm at the point where I no longer view the Jets as a rival and having hatred for their fans as a result, but rather feeling sorry for them.

In a league that is rigged for parity and there are new playoff teams popping up instead of the same old same old year after year, never mind winning one, they haven't been to a Super Bowl in close to 50 years.

Within that time, 12 of the 16 AFC teams have gone, with only the Browns, Texans and Jaguars not going in addition to the Jets.

They signed Revis mainly to stick it to the Patriots.

The result; back to back trips to the AFCCG and a Super Bowl win.

And Luckiestman is a good guy too, not a troll at all, I feel badly for him.

I've only had one beer since getting home from the gym, I need at least two more to comment on this thread in depth. If I had faith in the GM to scout talent, I could make a decent case for what they're doing but I'm still wait and see with him. I don't mind letting Bowles learn a little on the job. I see some good things in him.

Brandon, Mangold and Fitzpatrick seemed to have a little clique and that was cool when things were going well but not so much when it was going bad and cleaning house seems to mean ownership (in absentia) is putting their faith in the HC. I don't mind a rebuild so don't feel bad for me.

Not to mention, during SB week, he did rant about how BB receives too much credit for the defense's success. I think he's also called him "overrated" on the same or another occasion, IIRC.

Not that his point about the D isn't valid on some level, but I doubt that made Bill itch to add him to the roster one day.

Marshall is itching to create a bigger foothold as a media guy after he retires. Not sure how he'll take to BB's gag orders.
With Bruschi, McGinest, Harrison, Moss and Evans all lugging around mics, it seems that playing for BB might be the best way to get into the media.

Can't remember if BB ever praised Marshall like he did Ochocinco and Ed Reed.

Marshall already has two Emmy nominations for his work on Inside the NFL on Showtime

He is seriously awesome on that, at least presentationally. Has some ludicrous takes - not all the time - but he's a natural on that show and, imo, extremely likable, even with the periodic bonehead viewpoints.

Edit: typo autocorrect

Yup, he's actually good at it. I could see Marshall coming to NE for the right price – he thinks very highly of the Patriots and was legitimately down on the Jets' culture last year. He wants to win. That said, I suspect it would come with the requirement that he put Inside the NFL on hold.

You think BB would care one iota about this if Marshall otherwise was a good fit on scheme, cost, etc?

The Jets aren't done cutting players, per sources. Marcus Gilchrist, Calvin Pryor, Eric Decker, Buster Skrine and Sheldon Richardson are in danger of losing their roster spots. They could try to trade Pryor and Richardson, both former first-round picks. David Harris appears safe for now, but that could change if they sign a free agent at inside linebacker.

I honestly think the Jets will tank next season in hopes to draft Sam Darnold. Can anyone else see them using all their new found cap space to go and sign a bunch of overpriced veterans in hopes to be a wild card team? I can totally see them pocketing a lot of the space and punting on 2017.

There's really no reason for them not to do just this. The best they can hope for is beating out Buffalo for third in the AFCE; so it's not as though the playoffs are in sight. The question is: Since they've been relevant so rarely, will the ownership/fans/media go along with the tanking?

Fully agree, they are going to suck hard next year. 2-14 type of season coming for them. Also think Buffalo is going to regress back to a 5 or 6 win team. This helps Miami as much as the Pats, if not more. Should be 4 wins for both teams, honestly.

I assume he's going to give it up regardless unless he signs with the Giants since they film it in NJ.

How often does tanking work in the NFL? It's not the NBA, where you can get by on like 2.5 good players; you need like 20.

I agree; but if part of the Jets problem is the culture in the clubhouse, one of the best ways to rebuild that is to strip out the veteran layer and start over with free agents and draftees

But Marshall is already there. No way BB allows that. I don't see a fit, either.
Thanks - didn't realize cameras were already rolling for Marshall. That's a different story. Since BB isn't raising his hand to get on Hard Knocks, I imagine a player on a current series wouldn't float his boat either.

If Buster Skrine is available I hope the Patriots sign him. Best hair in the NFL and it's not even close.
