ESPN Radio saying Sherman will be released today. If his Achilles is healthy I'm interested.
He’s certainly not healthy now but will be interesting to see how much teams are willing to bet on his recovery. I’m all in on the Sherman train. Give him the Revis deal and let’s do this.

I'd assume he'd get a low base salary with heavy escalators re: snaps and games played

Right on. Revis made good on the one year and got paid. Fine with me.

Reminds me of the college football practice facility arms race. Would be funny if Cousins was negotiating like a college coach, "Yeah sounds good and the money is right but, I'm going to need a commitment on that SOTA practice facility. You know I heard that's why Tom is so happy up in New England. His own practice facility. You like what Tom has been able to do, I'm sure."

"Is a verbal good enough? If you give me a fully guaran-darn-teed opt-out if ground hasn't been broken by x date. Sure. It sure is."

"Oh and make sure I have a reserved space big enough for a minivan right up front in the parking lot. Don't give me that compact car treatment. They gave RG3 the compact car treatment and look what happened to him."

Very much want Sherman. Man, him (even at, say, 80%) and Gilmore would be a hell of a CB duo. Then add speed at LB, another edge guy in the draft, and this defense becomes much improved.

I really want Sherman as well. Really hope he gives New England a chance. He can do (exactly) what Revis did.
Not that he will ever read this - just say no to San Francisco Richard.

In addition to the Achilles injury, does anyone worry about Sherman as a cultural fit? He generally appears to be a thoughtful, well spoken guy who has some occasional emotional outbursts, but at a minimum, he does like to speak his mind, and let’s be honest... that’s not a well loved quality by the coaching staff.

I just hope the Pats take a flier on him just like Revis.
Win the SB next season and Richard can get one last big pay day.

Edit - I realize Sherman doesn’t guarantee a SB victory; it just that this could be just like the Revis signing.

Nope. We’ve heard before about players not being a fit. But Sherman is a smart football player and knows what the culture here is as much as the Pats know who he is. All that to say, if he signs here, that would be non-issue in my eyes.

Achilles is my only concern and I’m willing to roll the dice there. Sherman/Gilmore/Jones/Rowe with McCourty/Harmon would be such a solid unit. Get a little pass rushing help and we’re rolling.

He didn't like the caste system in Seattle where rah-rah Pete never criticized the quarterback, where there wasn't a real meritocracy. He'd get that with the Patriots.

Widely reported that the Pats offered a 3rd for Michael Bennett and a 5th -- so higher draft capital than the Seahawks received in their deal with the Eagles. Apparently the Pats offer came in after the Seahawks had just about agreed with the Eagles, and Seattle didn't want to back out (for reasons that aren't clear to me).

You also need to worry about his other Achilles, which was worked on after he had surgery on the torn one. Evidently he has some issues in that one too. Per the linked article from a month ago:

Sherman is still due to have arthroscopic surgery on his left heel soon to shave bone spurs that he said are jabbing into his Achilles.

That surgery, Sherman said, had to wait until he had recovered well enough from the Achilles surgery on his other foot.

“That will slow me down a little bit,’’ he said. “But it (his right Achilles) feels great.’’

In fact, Sherman said he thinks he’d be ready to go for mini-camp in June, but that he thinks the team will take it slow with him and not allow him to take the field until training camp.
I mean, I'm sad to see him go, but there's definitely a lot of question marks and I'll be curious to see if the Seahawks still put in a decent bid on him. I'm sure they'll get outbid by a couple of teams and that would be it.

Jarvis Landry is a perfectly mediocre #2 depending on the picks it's only a kind of shitty deal pending his new contract. Still it does make me think the Browns are going to continue their quest to be shittily run forever.

Now we get to see a RB go #1 overall

Edit: And they add a CB:

Adam Schefter‏Verified account @AdamSchefter 12m12 minutes ago
And another trade for Browns: Packers have informed CB Damarious Randall that he is being traded to Cleveland (like everybody else), per source.

Trading anything of Value for Tyrod Taylor and that contract is horrendous. He was probably gonna get cut and could have been had for far less anyway.
Not the same old Browns at all actually. This makes it more likely they draft a QB with Taylor bridging the gap to Darnold/Allen/Rosen/Mayfield.
Why do they need Tyrod Taylor as a bridge? A bridge leading to 3 wins?

Passing on Wentz and Watson and ending up 2 years later trading a decent pick to pay Taylor $18 million.

Same 'ol Browns.
Passing on Wentz and Watson was dumb but is done. They’ll probably win more games than the same old Bills in 2018. If Hue Jackson can coach at all that is. A third isn’t ideal but at some point players need to learn by winning a few games.

I will give you 3:2 odds the Bills win more games than the Browns. $100. Offer open to you and first person other than you who takes it.

I like Taylor, that's a decent enough trade. Now if they take Barkley #1 it's still terrible, but a defensive player or O-lineman and a trade back to get another defensive player and Lamar Jackson or whoever else they like from the end of the top 5 QBs would be amazing

Browns are sending Kizer to GB. I would have thought he and Taylor were at least competing for the job.

It's Taylor's job this year, and he'll then compete with whoever they draft the following year (unless the draftee is amazing right away and steals the job, but that's unlikely).

If I’m Cleveland, I take Chubb #1 and pick a QB at #4. If Chubb/Garrett both reach their potential, that will create a ton of pressure on QBs.

So they don't have to throw a rookie QB to the fire again like last year. Taylor isn't as bad as you think he may be. He's not a franchise guy but he's capable of competent QB play for a year so whoever they pick can learn.

Browns have so much draft capital that a move like this makes sense. Taylor is probably one of the best 20 QBs in the NFL, which immediately makes him the best Browns QB since the halcyon days of Derek Anderson.

Seriously, go look at who has played QB for the Browns recently. Their best QB over the past decade was Brian Hoyer. Tyrod Taylor is a huge upgrade over the detritus they've been shoving under center.
