Schefter says he’s not subject to waivers (I’ve also read otherwise) and that teams are calling Browns to trade.

I've read elsewhere that his service time falls short of vested vet status because of the suspensions etc.

Anyone know the service time numbers to check who is right?

It sounds more like he just hasn’t actually been released. If Cleveland can get anything for him, why would they?

Apparently some people on twitter saying there are different ways of counting suspension time for different purposes, so he is going to skip waivers

Edit- Okay so he was credited years of "pension service" in 2012,2013,2014 and 2017. That is different from accrued seasons. Accrued is for free agency, credited is what matters for waivers. So he skips waivers with 4 seasons.

Joel Corry says he'd be a free agent if released, not have to go through waivers.

Thanks.

Pats would seem likely to ask Shelton/J Mac about him. And perhaps also Coleman! You can never have too many former Cleveland WR can you?

This has Cowboys written all over it. No team needs a WR more, and Jerry loves a reclamation project.

It took one bad game on a good team. Note the number of offers he declined.

Jimmy G has a torn ACL, done for the year.
That’s brutal. I watched the replay a bunch and still have no idea what he was thinking. Even if he cut back, the extra yard or two doesn’t justify the lost time. Imagine he’s going to be spending a lot of time replaying that decision in his mind.

There is a chance that the stupidity of the cut back is why he tore his ACL. He might have realized the second he cut that it was stupid and didn't commit to the plant, thus he knee took the brunt of the injury. This is just a guess, IMNAD.

But it was dumb and useless (it wasn't 4th down in a playoff game and the first down was 3 yards away, which is the only scenario where it wouldn't be useless) and now he's out for the season.

Jimmy has started 10 games and now hasn’t finished 2 of them.

Assuming he could have played a maximum of 4 games in 2016, 5 games last year, and 16 this year, he will have played in 10 of 25 games.

He may not be injury prone and this could all be fluky, but basically he’s already missed as many career games as Brady. 15 to 15.

I like the guy and am rooting for him and I hate the term injury prone. But, suffering a non contact injury by doing something dumb certainly suggests he’d be more prone to future injury than others.

Also, the cut that he made... Stupid on its on to initiate contact... He cut while planting out of bounds.

Rishard Matthews is asking the Titans for his release. The Patriots had interest this offseason. Seems like someone they should try to bring in.
In his first 6 seasons he has played in 16 games only twice, he just tore his meniscus in training camp this year and is asking for a release because he is pissed off about his lack of targets. The headlines say “Titans leading receiver” but I’m not sure he is actually any good. Pretty pedestrian stats from Miami and one good year with the Titans. I’m not sure his ceiling is actually any higher then Hogan or Dorsett. The injury history scares me and I do think he’d help but only in the same way that adding any other average-ish WR would help.

Its all over twitter but Panthers have signed Eric Reid, the former 49ers safety. He had recently filed a collusion lawsuit against the NFL. My question for the lawyers on here (perhaps the ones not watching the Ford hearings) : does this make his lawsuit moot or will it continue?

I imagine he’d at least be able to sue for wages lost during the first 3 games.

Injuries might be a concern, but he was a legit #2 and a decent amount better than Hogan over their respective careers.
Last year he put up a 60.9% catch rate and a 15.0 Y/R on 87 targets, that's pretty good (Antonio Brown was at 62% and 15.2 Y/R on way more targets as a comp)
2016 he put up 60% and 14.5 Y/R on 107 targets, That's 2 straight years as a high end #2, Low end #1 WR. If he can get healthy he'd be an upgrade at the position.

Lombardi: DeVante Parker has been injury-plagued over his career in Miami, and he might be the next player sent packing by head coach Adam Gase. The Dolphins have talked to several teams about trading Parker as they have been frustrated with him. Via @TheAthletic

Parker's remaining salary for a team acquiring him is the remaining portion of his base salary of $1.9 million. His 5th year option can be declined as well. This may be a nice, cheap option for the Patriots to further solidify the WR position if they wanted.

Ereck Flowers getting released by the Giants. Top 10 OT pick in 2015. Gotta think the Pats will at least look at this right? No one else resuscitates former 1st rounders like the Pats.

After listening to Giants fans at work whining about him literally every week for the last 4 years, I want no part of this dude.

Yeah, but think of the whining you'll have the privilege of listening to after BB turns him into a key player.

He's quite possibly the worst tackle in the league. Certainly among them. Both a turnstile and penalty machine. The only way I would bring him in is with the hope that after he is cut, another AFC East team will bring him in for intel and then actually play him.

Way over my pay grade here so apologies if this is a dumb question: is he unable or not a good fit to play guard? It seems his struggles have been against quick ends. Maybe a combo of moving him inside and sending him to Dante Univ. could turn coal into...well, something?

Haven't watch him much but he's slow and plays high and that's two points against being a good guard.

Raiders want a 1st round pick for amari cooper
If I'm Dallas, I'm very tempted to pay that price (Cowboys fans may disagree with me here) but we're talking about a 24 year-old WR1 who has 2 1,000 yard seasons under his belt. No idea what's gone on the last 1.5 seasons but he remains a top talent.

The Curse of 28-3 strikes again, as Devonta Freeman has gone to IR today, while Matt Bryant is also ruled out of MNF against the Giants, with Giorgio Tavecchio signed for at least one week to replace him. Part of me wants Bryant's last act in the NFL to be getting permanently injured while successfully kicking a 57-yard field goal; that's a warrior's death for a kicker if ever I've heard of one.

What team had the worst injury in any given NFL season, I wonder? I'm not suggesting the 2018 Falcons are there yet, but it has been a brutal season, and we are only through Week 6. (If Matt Ryan goes down soon, then they might yet get to the top of that particular list...)
