Hes a great player but so is ty law with 3 rings which to me should seperate him from dawkins.
He won 3 rings but didn’t play in the 2004 playoffs. We have Asante Samuel and Randall Gay to thank for that ring.

Edit: off topic but while the 2004 team was perhaps the best team of this entire era it was a very improbable title given the playoff route and injury situation - had to play MVPeyton, at 15-1 Steelers, and vs. a great Iggles team, all three games without the two starting CBs Law and Poole

Good for Rey, he killed to get into the HoF.

(I need to get these jokes in whenever Rey is still relevant no matter how clunky they may be).

On this board we actively try to discourage using WAR as a definitive statement on a baseball player's worth, but now we're trying to settle football arguments solely by PFR's Approximate Value?
Except my original post took issue with saying Dawkins over Law is a joke. Then he predictably doubled down by saying Law should get in because of the titles. AV is far from the be-all end-all but it beats the hell out of count teh ringz!

Tony Gonzalez should be a lock for first time eligible players next year

Also Champ Bailey and Ed Reed stand out as having a legitimate shot.

I´m new to that process. Do those knock-on-door-scenes mean that those guys (like TO for exampe, if he made it to the final cut the last time) are sitting in their hotel room and wait and wait and wait and nobody comes, if they´re not voted in?
(Until they go out for dinner in frustration after a deadline passes..? Like 5pm for TO, 5.05pm Moss, 5.10pm Dawkins, etc.?) Or what´s the schedule of that event/presentation for the finalists?

Disappointed for Ty Law, but happy that the HOF got it right with both TO and, more importantly, Randy. I was prepared for sanctimonious sports writers spending words telling us about how neither respected the game or some other bullshit.

Gonzalez, Reed and Bailey are mortal locks for next year which means Ty will probably have to wait again.

I don't think Ty is deserving, personally, as much as I love him. I also didn't think Urlacher should have made it. I'll be pretty pissed if John Lynch makes it but he probably will too.

Every time I think of Urlacher I think of this

Urlacher was the best player on an excellent defense for almost a decade. He has 150 AV. He's absolutely deserving.

I don't think Lynch or Law are getting in for a while. The next two years have Reed and Bailey then Polamalu. The DBs will have to wait for those guys to clear. Law has a better shot, he made the top 10 for the second year in a row, while Lynch didn't. http://www.talkoffamenetwork.com/hof-judgements-youth-served-owens-moss-lewis-elected/

The big question for the voters is what to do with the offensive linemen. Boselli, Mawae, Faneca, and Hutchinson all finished in the 6-10 spots, likely splitting votes with each other. The committee needs to come to a consensus. I think Faneca and Hutchinson should be easy choices, followed by Boselli and then Mawae. I hope at least one of the guards gets in next year.
