Speaking of arm strength, uncharacteristically weak throw to end the game from Rodgers there.

Really? Not me. He's got 125 millions reason to smile, without messing up his brain in the process. Go easy Jimmy.
That and fighting for an extra yard there was pretty stupid. Not that being stupid means he doesn’t deserve sympathy.

From a Pats perspective, Jimmy’s style of play does seem to leave him prone to injury, or at least more prone than Brady.

But yeah, the money helps.

We're on to 2019.

Sigh. Thank you Sox for still doing so well. All attention to baseball where it belongs until the C's/B's start.
Not necessarily. Beathard isn’t awful. I don’t think the 49ers were going to the playoffs anyway this year.
They have a great running game.

Jimmy’s biggest issue is pocket awareness, which makes sense because he has barely played.
He needs to learn how to avoid sacks and when to give up on plays.

For 3 games....

Goff a strike to cooks. Why can't we get WRs like that?
Non-elite WR with a perennial $15M cap hit and is uncuttable for 4 years?

Nice piece, but not a great allocation of resources. LA can justifiably take the risk because they're built to win now and Goff is on a rookie contract.

Early season NFL — look at the first three weeks for Washington, Jax and Minnesota.

I think it's getting to the point where you should not try to sack the QB.

The embarrassing thing — the QBs really don’t like these bullshit calls. They are embarrassed by them.

How do goal-line defenses consistently fail to be prepared for the quick QB leap over the line? I have seen it about five times already this season where the defense does absolutely nothing to try to stop it. I seem to remember Wilfork pushing up at the goal-line to try to stop the reach.

They really should just put a flag on the QB and get it over with. No tackling.
It would be fairer. At least the play is over when you get the flag.

Understand that Ben Roethlisberger, for example, is never “in the grasp.” Now go ahead and try to bring him to the ground without the benefit of your full body weight.

That Jimmy G play was dumb. He was cutting back for maybe another half yard down to scores instead of going out of bounds.

California. Duh.
Chargers pick off Goff at the 1, run 3 plays that all almost end up as a safety, then have their punt out of the end zone blocked for a Rams TD.

Do you have a source for this statement?
I don't know about embarrassed, but Rodgers was quoted earlier this week about how it's getting ridiculous and they should swallow the flags. This may just be sour grapes since they lost (tied) a game on one of the calls but he did go on to say that the play he got hurt on wasn't a penalty either.

Wait... did the Cardinals really call timeout after falling to convert on third down with 40 seconds left and 4th and long coming up?

What the hell?

I was asking sincerely. It’s a brutal game and if I were a QB I’d take whatever they would give me. I have a hard time believing the QBs are embarassed by it, except when, as you noted, it goes against their team.
