The Hornets are playing for their playoff lives...

I was just thinking about Jeremy Lamb today. Now he can be known for this amazing one off, as opposed to being known as one of the guys traded for James Harden.

OKC/Seattle drafted MVPs in three consecutive drafts, with picks 2, 4, and 3.

Devin Booker scores 59 points on 19-34 shooting but the Suns go down to the Jazz 125-92. Booker's next step needs to include putting up numbers in winning efforts though its hard to fault him for what has happened in his career thus far. The Suns, as we all know, are a tire fire on top of a dumpster filled with kindling.

Jusuf Nurkic's season just ended during double OT in Portland vs the Nets. Looks like a Hayward type injury. Do not watch the replay.

He is being wheeled off on a stretcher. Ugh. Sucks because he was having a good season and Portland seemed like a tough matchup with their full lineup.

Man, that sucks. Glad he is signed through 2022 or so. Possible his career is gone for good. Only hope is that a guy like him who wasn’t much of a jumper before the injury can eventually recover after taking next year off.

Nurkic was having a monster game, and earlier this season turned in one of the most remarkable game, stat wise, in NBA history, a 20/20 5x5, the first time it's happened in NBA history (at least since they've been keeping track in all categories. Someone like Wilt might have done it before).

I attended the Portland game in Boston this year, and got there early and watched the Blazers warm ups from courtside. I really liked the way Nurkic went about his business, and was very impressed with his skills.

Stats since the All-Star Break:

Player A: 25-6-5 on 41-39-87 shooting.

Player B: 25-5-9 on 45-40-87 shooting.

Player A's team is 9-7 since the ASG, Player B's team is 7-9.

Player A is Steph Curry
Player B is Trae Young

Still have not watched and cannot watch the Nurkic injury, but man, such a cruel fvcking blow for him, the team, Blazers fans, and all sports fans. Another reminder that all these guys for whom we feel real affection are always just one awkward fall away. There but for the grace of the hoops gods go our teams.

Especially sh*tty since the Blazers were playing great and really starting to coalesce, and Nurk was having an absolute monster game when the injury struck.

Edit: moving piece today from the great Dave Deckard at Blazers Edge, still consistently the best of all the SB Nation hoops blogs, imho: https://www.blazersedge.com/2019/3/26/18281996/jusuf-nurkic-leg-injury-blazers-nets-2019-nba-playoffs

Anyway, for whatever they’re worth, all my secular prayers for the speediest possible recovery.

Yea, not sure how anyone could seek out that video and actually watch it. I have seen enough horrifying leg injuries over the years that I always refrain from even thinking about watching any new ones

Player D: 27-5-4 on 46/44/81 shooting.

Donovan Mitchell
The All-NBA guard spots are going to be interesting. Harden, Curry, Lillard are locks. Then you have to pick between Westbrook, Kyrie, CP3, Klay, Kemba, Mitchell, Ben Simmons, Beal, etc. All of those guys have flaws and you could argue that any of them could also make the 2nd team. I'd probably go Westbrook, Mitchell and Irving but I can accept almost any other answer.

Is Simmons categorized as a guard or forward for All-NBA purposes? Don’t know if he makes it either way, but an interesting wrinkle.

The forward spots are pretty interesting too. Lots of speculation about LeBron - he could very easily wind up not on the First Team for the first time since 2007, and maybe even fall to Third Team, behind Giannis, Durant, PG, and Kwahi.

If someone votes for LeBron for first-team they should have their ballot destroyed and be banned from watching basketball for the rest of their life. Just my opinion though.

While I think that Lebron may fall to third team, I am unsure if he should. He has played same amount of games as Kawhi - but didn't have the generous "load management" routine going. Lebron is still putting up a ridiculous 27.5 PTS, 8.6 REBS, 8.1 ASST

For entertainment purposes only...

1. Curry, Harden, Durant, Giannis, Jokic
2. Lillard, Beal, George, LeBron, Embiid
3. Kemba, Klay, Kawhi, Griffin, Towns

(NB: Kyrie should probably be on there over Klay, and I know we're allowed to put multiple little PGs on the same team, but I always prefer listing teams that vaguely resemble actual lineups, otherwise why not just pick the best five guys at any position?)

Somewhere
1. Curry, Harden, Durant, Giannis, Jokic
2. Lillard, Beal, George, LeBron, Embiid
3. Kemba, Klay, Kawhi, Griffin, Towns
Seems like a reasonable starting point

1. Curry, Harden, George, Giannis, Jokic
2. Lillard, Westbrook, Lebron, Durant, Towns
3. Kyrie, Beal, Kawhi, Griffin, Gobert (but Embiid or Davis works too)

What's crazy is that it's hard to squeeze Simmons on the squad and he's been awesome this season

Also, Vucevic but I don't know what to make of him

Mavs with a small lead over the Kings, would be a double win if they can hold on. Luka flirting with a triple double, already at 20 points, 10 boards and 8 assists, five minutes left in the third.

That really was a pretty egregious offensive foul. Kudos to Stephenson for pulling it off.
I do not know if you are serious or not. Green jabbed his left foot outside of Green’s shoulder length which is the same as a tripping violation if he attempted to penetrate past him and stepped on his foot. It really should have been a 3-point play.

Green threw one down tonight that Twitter is calling “Green’s Revenge!”

Booker with 50 again tonight, once again in a losing effort against Washington. He is still just 22 and won't turn 23 until next season. He might break Kareem's record and also never make the playoffs.

Update on Nurkic from an area orthopedic surgeon (not clear if he's his ortho or just some guy The Oregonian called for an expert opinion): Average recovery is 41 weeks. In other words, might not miss a lot of 2019-20.
Hope he's back soon, but 41 weeks from now is mid January, so I wonder what their plan would be. Ease him back over last 4 months of season and hope he can contribute in postseason?
