Phoenix tied the game on a three with ~ 1.1 Gentry called a TO when the Pels didn't have one which resulted in a tech. Booker made the FT, then the Suns got another point off an intentional foul. They won by two in OT.What happened?
Stupid, but I highly doubt they'll fire him for it.Phoenix tied the game on a three with ~ 1.1 Gentry called a TO when the Pels didn't have one which resulted in a tech. Booker made the FT, then the Suns got another point off an intentional foul. They won by two in OT.
I mean, Gentry is almost certainly gone after this season anyhow so firing him for this seems cruel, especially after what this team has had to endure with the Davis circus.
Also picked up his 16th tech for the season, which means a suspension for a game unless they rescind it.Westbrook 1-15 tonight. Oof.
Ownership should give the coach a bonus. A one spot move in the draft lottery from 10 up adds 1.5% to a team's chances of getting Zion.Stupid, but I highly doubt they'll fire him for it.
Finished 2-16. Even more notable than the brickfest (though likely a result of it) was the total emotional meltdown — randomly shoving Klay and Looney, stomping off the court and into the tunnel to scream silently, etc. Looked like Draymond on a bad day. Happy with the result of the game, obviously, but I felt bad for him. Cheer up, Russ!Westbrook 1-15 tonight. Oof.
Goddamit, I just heard about / saw the McCollum knee injury. Really hope it looked worse than it is. Fingers crossed.
He should be banned from the NBA if proof comes out he threw the gameGentry should be fired for the end of that suns game.
That was dumbest choke job I've seen in a basketball game in a long time.
If he wanted to throw the game, would he take the chance on Josh Jackson hitting a 3 at the buzzer? He should be banned from the NBA if proof comes out he threw the game
This makes me want the Celtics to be the 4 seed even more. There’s a really clear path now of Indy, Bucks, and then hoping the Sixers beat Toronto.Malcolm Brogdon out indefinitely with a plantar fascia tear. Really sh*tty blow for the Bucks — probably their third best / most integral player.
This is exactly where I'm at. Even before the Brogdon injury, but especially so now. This makes me want the Celtics to be the 4 seed even more. There’s a really clear path now of Indy, Bucks, and then hoping the Sixers beat Toronto.
I’m rooting for the Sixers to basically win out so that we get the Bucks and a decent shot at the Sixers beating the Raptors.I’m looking forward to the Bucks vs 76ers game today and frankly I’m not sure who I am rooting for.
I wouldn't want to play the Pacers. They play together and they play defense. Even without Oladipo they are a more dangerous team than the Sixers, who have a ton of star power but not enough cohesiveness. This makes me want the Celtics to be the 4 seed even more. The utter disgust in the voices of the announcers is just... *chef's kiss*Here’s the sequence for that Pels OT loss:
If the Celtics cannot beat the Pacers in a series regardless of how well they play together, they aren't beating anyone else that will be in the playoffs.I wouldn't want to play the Pacers. I want the three seed. Let Philly and Indy battle it out in the first round.
Yup, every year there are some teams who “play together and play defense.” They get beaten in the playoffs every year by the teams loaded with talent. If the Celtics cannot beat the Pacers in a series regardless of how well they play together, they aren't beating anyone else that will be in the playoffs.
In that series, the Celtics would arguably have the top three of any ten players on the floor at a given time. You can concoct all sorts of scenarios where the Pacers overcome that disadvantage - and given the way this Boston team has played for stretches this season you would be entirely justified in doing so - but Boston would be heavily favored in that match-up because of the talent gap.
Good to see a guy who hasn't had much of a career have a moment.
Their tank is going entirely too well.
From the box score it looks like it was an epic big man battle between Embiid (40 points, 15 boards, 6 assists) and Giannis (52, 16, 7). Would be fun to see these two teams match up in the playoffs.Bucks are no help today. Dropped one at home to Philly.
Did Daddy Hezonja have him in a booster chair?Random (since afaik we don't have a Port Cellar Celebrity Sightings thread) just saw LeBron chilling at a burger joint / café in Tribeca that the Sam-ette wanted to check out. Just a coffee bean's throw away from us. At first I thought it was just a dead-ringer, cos why would the King be in a random café in NYC on an early Sunday evening ... then checked the Lakers' schedule and: confirmed.
"It bothers me in the fact we didn't close the game out, and being the competitor that I am, it bothers me that I didn't make enough plays down the stretch; it bothers me that I didn't even get a shot up at the hoop," James said. "Of course that stuff bothers me, but I mean what's the difference between their record and our record? Two teams out of the postseason. So there's no difference. We have a couple more wins than them, but both teams right now are on the outside looking in, so it's not much of a difference."
What are the witty things you thought about saying to him which someday you'll start claiming you actually said?Random (since afaik we don't have a Port Cellar Celebrity Sightings thread) just saw LeBron chilling at a burger joint / café in Tribeca that the Sam-ette wanted to check out. Since Oladipo went down, here is what IND has done on the road:I wouldn't want to play the Pacers. They play together and they play defense. Even without Oladipo they are a more dangerous team than the Sixers, who have a ton of star power but not enough cohesiveness.

I see Bron and Russell Westbrook (at R&D Kitchen) a ton on Montana Ave in Santa Monica. They mingle with the general public.Random (since afaik we don't have a Port Cellar Celebrity Sightings thread) just saw LeBron chilling at a burger joint / café in Tribeca that the Sam-ette wanted to check out. You just had to include something about an ex-girlfriend to complete the full Marciano.I see Bron and Russell Westbrook (at R&D Kitchen) a ton on Montana Ave in Santa Monica. They mingle with the general public.
Actually, do yoga with your GM, Bob Myers, whenever the Warriors are in town.
I loved the follow on where Simmons had a jam of sorts but not as celebration worthy. Regardless, he screamed at Giannis as if the weak dunk was the equal of the original.Giannis dunking on Simmons and calling him a fucking baby has to be one of the highlights of the season.
I don't blame Simmons for trying to flex a bit in retaliation, but I think that everyone saw the weakness. If he wanted to stand up for himself, he should have said something when Giannis bigboyed him and got in his face. The maturity and confidence difference was clear as day.I loved the follow on where Simmons had a jam of sorts but not as celebration worthy. Eh, I'd rather see a player retaliate by making a play on the court then by getting in a guy's face and doing some senseless mean-mugging. Getting dunked on and then trying to talk shit after you just got yammed on is a sign of weakness in my book; throwing down a dunk of your own and then talking back is much more effective.I don't blame Simmons for trying to flex a bit in retaliation, but I think that everyone saw the weakness. To each his own. It was brutal as shit, and celebrating an uncontested putback hardly suffices as a response to such a manhandling. But it is only one play.Eh, I'd rather see a player retaliate by making a play on the court then by getting in a guy's face and doing some senseless mean-mugging. Or actually winning the game. GA getting in Ben's face in a losing effort doesn't impress at all.Eh, I'd rather see a player retaliate by making a play on the court then by getting in a guy's face and doing some senseless mean-mugging.
