Lost home field advantage. Sox are looking vulnerable. Offense is top heavy. Starting pitching doesn't match up against the Yankees. Bullpen is weak.
This is the sort of fucking bullshit I've been fucking reading on this sad little fucking board the past two weeks. Fuck all you Fuckistanis! This is the Boston Red Sox! Greatest baseball team of the 21st century and we're winning this shit. Those are the Motherfucking Yankees and they're going to lose! Because they're a bunch of shitbags. It's as simple as that. Eovaldi has the Yankees number and our offense is going to abuse that little joke of a right field fence. Devers gets the start and goes yard. We're winning this.... no more whiney little fuck sticks around here. Fuck y'all and FUCK THE FUCKING MOTHERFUCKING YANKEES!!!!!!

Before we label a whole team as "Motherfuckers", are they ALL Motherfuckers? Or is it just some of them who fuck, I imagine, their own mothers? Although I guess they could be fucking other people's mothers. Maybe each others?

And if just some, do we know which ones?

    I'll hang up and listen.

It's not really my place to answer. I just report the facts... but I have to correct you here. They're not just "motherfuckers". They are "fucking motherfuckers". You're welcome.

A note to those fucking motherfucking Yankees - don't try and prolong the agony of losing, get the fuck in the box until Eovaldi strikes your ass out.

Let's hope for a return to diminished times between Eovaldi's pitches.

    Ahhh.

I am into fact based insults. I am sure we can come up with evidentiary backed data to support this. The question is, How Much?

Amazing that losing 1 game, a game mind you where everyone sort of new the SP would shit the bed, has everyone convinced this team is doomed.

The offense hasn't done anything yet and we are tied 1-1. Sox need a split in the toilet and hand it to Sale game 5 for the series win.

    Simple as that

However beating the Yankees twice in the Bronx would be a good outcome as well.

I can’t believe Nathan Eovaldi is starting Game 3 of the ALDS against the Yankees.

What’s the old adage? You can never have too much starting pitching?

Reverse lock! Fuck those fucking motherfuckers!

I work in midtown too. They were very confident when up 3-0 in 04. And when they were up 3-1. And 3-2.

That's part of why they are Mother Fucking Yankees Fans. All of them.

I think they're really more entitled than confident. Which is what makes it so hilarious when they lose.

I’ve got a neighbor named Stanis. He’s not much of a sports fan but his wife told me he said that the Red Sox had it made when coming home in 2013 up on the Cardinal-stains 3 games to 2. I said but Michael Wacha Michael Wacha, John Lackey John Lackey...He was right. Teams over individuals and we have the best team.

Again, as much as the focus has been on the pitching, so much comes down to what Mookie and Benintendi do. I want to see those guys on base a ton tonight. If that happens, we win. Let's go, Sox!

Cora needs to put Holt in. Nunez I can SORT OF understand even though he was a straight up abomination last game.

I want Devers, he can fuck up a fastball with the best of them. But I think Cora is playing safe, which you can’t do against the MFY.

MFY fans getting cocky after one win. Lot of "Home field advantage is ours!" bullshit. How scary was the Bronx in 2004, you irredeemable bastards?

Pretty simple - If Mookie, 10D and JDM hit, we probably win. If they don't, we will lose 5-1 or 6-2 or whatever because you know there will be at least 2 cheapies over that stupid wall in RF.

Six hours to game time and I’m already itching like a man on a fuzzy tree.

They win one game and are convinced the series is over. Take this massive overconfidence and shove it so far up their collective asses that Joba’s mom will discover new cavities into which she can hide her meth.

All I ask is patience. Stop swinging at bullshit slop like they did with Tanaka. Take walks.

One home run is equal to four errors, or something. Play Devers. If he boots one or throws one away, well, Nunez is just as capable of doing that. This bunch has got to prove they can win in Octubre without Big Papi.

I approve of the vitriolic start to this thread.

It's the playoffs and the mfy. More vitriol is needed. Also, more offense. And pitching. Good hitting and pitching seems like a successful formula for the Sox to adapt.

We had "David Ortiz, David Ortiz, DAVID ORTIZ!!!"

Right now we have Mookie Mays in a slump. And...well...the entire team in a slump.

Side note, watching the 2013 ALCS Grand Slam - Levangie is in the bullpen. Looks the exact same.

They had to swing because the bullshit slop was being called a strike. Umpire will probably be huge again this game. If Severino is getting his slider 3" below the knees called a strike it will be a very long game. Severino has 12 BB in 20 career post-season innings.

Winters is behind the plate tonight and he has a clear lean towards the pitcher so that is not great. Also we really need Devers in there tonight. That short porch is just calling him name.

Oddly enough, Ticketmaster just reduced the price of SRO tix at the Toilet to $99. I don't know what they previously cost but that any reduction was needed is surprising.

I blame the MFYs and their MF ways.

I hate me some Brett Gardner too but I’d prefer to face that meat head instead of Aaron Hicks.

Good moves, AC, with Holt, Devers and Vazquez.

    Let's remember...

In 2013, Will Middlebrooks hit his way out of the line up and Xander Bogaerts established himself as a force in the playoffs. At third base.

Time for Devers to do that.

The lineups are a little off. Moreland/Kinsler are in, and Gardner is in, Didi is not. Other than that they're pretty close.

Shit, are the pitchers off? I may need to restart this.

Nope, never mind it's Eovaldi and Severino. cool.

Then again, Leon has become an automatic out at the plate. Maybe Cora is thinking that Vazquez is better defensively than Swihart and more likely to reach base than Leon, so he gets the start. Particularly in light of the teamwide offensive malaise since the early part of Game 1.

Here’s hoping that Cora pinch hits for Vazquez if the Sox are down. He can also insert Leon for defensive purposes if and when Kimbrel is in there for the save.

Oops, was trying to reply to a post about being surprised about Vaz starting.
