Duke is definitely not getting the calls tonite.. ton of offensive fouls.. I'm not sure how many of them were legit.

edit: and I say that as a UNC fan.
edit2: I'm not sure how you can call a foul on the offensive player when the defensive player is completely reaching in.. even though he did elbow him in the head. And Bilas tries so hard to be impartial, but he's always so obviously rooting for Duke...and is he contractually obligated to be on ever UNC/Duke broadcast?

Yeah. He definitely got hit but he was reaching in; it looked like he was just dribbling and switching hands. This would be a bad call against UNC if Flagrant.

I have no idea how that's a flagrant 1.. what are you supposed to do in that situation when the opponent basically runs into you with their head down around your elbow? None of that was an unnatural motion.

edit: it's so weird to see a Duke team that can't shoot at all.

I agree. It was a really curios call. I am sure the Duke guy got hurt, but he sold that like a Premier league player.

Teams are a combined 9 for 55 from 3. Man, if I wanted to watch a bunch of bricked 3’s I’d just watch James Harden.

Quoted to save the record of this poster rooting for 18 year olds to get hurt.
I agree. People should consider that these are, indeed, 18 year old kids and not commodities to simply amuse us or allow others to profit from their talent.

Coach K says mild knee sprain. Now it gets interesting. Tournament starts in about a month. Does he come back even if he feels better in a couple weeks?

NCAA is an offensive organization I agree.

Meanwhile Ale Xander wants torn ligaments and shredded dreams. Quite offputting.

I hope Zion is okay and takes as much time as he needs to feel better. Certainly no need to rush it.

It would be an embarrassing way to end a season, but these are the tough decisions agents are paid to make. Zion should sit until Summer League.

It would be quite a situation for an NBA team. If Zion is still by far the top player in the draft, let's say that, hypothetically, it's worse than a sprain - say some tear of knee ligaments, and he would miss all or most of his rookie year. Do you still draft him #1?

Bad night for Nike on the court. But no, I can’t see them having any liability here. (Well, other than the fact that the failure of their product may have permanently alienated an incredibly important future asset.)

That is very, very fucked up.
Is this lack of self-awareness legitimate? Or is this a work?

Edit: I mean, you’re right that it’s fucked up to make light of an injury. But that’s not what I’m getting at.

I would unless doctors gave me some reason to believe he wouldn’t fully recover.

I think we all need to take it easy on Nike, they're the real victim here.

I don't take a 6-7 guy #1 even if healthy, who doesn't have exceptional range unless he plays defense like a Scottie Pippen. But maybe that's just me.

Heels fans getting mad online cause someone doesn't want to stand there while Roy tries to have a ten minute conversation with them is dumb.

Roy handed K his lunch last night, that's good enough for me.

K discussed the Baker situation: https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/article226732729.html

I have no issues if K decided Baker can help this team this year because they sorely lack shooting and he's a good shooter. My issue with K is that if he thought Baker could help, why wasn't this redshirt burned after (or DURING) the first Syracuse game? They haven't been able to shoot at home all year (respectable 37% from 3 away from home). Asking Baker to contribute this late in the year after spending 4 months not playing games is tough on a freshman (tougher still for one who should be a HS senior this year).

Yes, it was a vertigo episode.

Steve Robinson coached the second half and the Heels got out of town with an 81-79 W.
