It's been reported that he gets a 7-figure appearance fee to play in the Dubai Desert Classic. Can't imagine that there are a lot of people happy with this development.

Well the tournament organizers who decided to give him the deal are pretty dumb if they did so without any sort of WD / Injury protection. Wasn't too hard to foresee this outcome. Tiger's agent insists this is just a spasm and has nothing to do with the nerve problems, and that Riveria is still possible. We'll see. In my brief viewing on Wednesday night, he didn't look right. He *looked* far more stiff than he was at Torrey and the Hero.

This money grab always seemed ill conceived from the Tiger side. Having his first back-to-back ben in a California then Dubai was a recipe for trouble.

I don't know it is Dubai, and a couple million bucks is basically pocket change for the people running things. They got Tiger to come. They got to do their meet and greets, probably had a bunch of pictures taken with him, etc. I doubt they are that upset.

Didn't I read somewhere that his flight to Dubai this week was the first time he's flown commercial in over 10 years?? Why again would a billionaire with back issues not fire up the jet for a 17 hour flight to play in a golf tournament again?

He's a billionaire with back problems...does he do a quick Expedia search before deciding to fuel up his G6? Him flying commercial to a golf tournament is like me riding my bicycle to the Cape to play golf.

Watching WM, what is the point of having workers at the 16th tee holding quiet signs unreal

I love Duval, but missed this. What he say?
Talked about the struggles he went through--physical, mental, embarrassment, etc and related it to what Tiger is going through and all he needs to do.
I can't do it justice but it was really honest and I found it fascinating.

Golf channel just reported Steven Bowditch pulled a Michael Floyd last night, and was arrested for DUI after sitting passed out in his running car through multiple traffic light cycles in Scottsdale.

I wonder if it was the same light.

Tiger is officially out of the Genesis open, and the Honda Classic. Doctors orders

The back is bad

.

He is probably hoping for maybe one tuneup before the Masters at this point

That's one of the reasons this is one of my least favorite events despite being played a Pebble. Bill Murray, Bill Murray, Bill Murray, etc.

Sometimes you do have to love this pro-am. Justin Rose is taking a selfie of himself at the top of the hill on #7 while Justin Timberlake narrowly misses an Ace

Greg I was just coming in here to post about Rob, he's -9 in a second now, good finish and he can make a years worth of coin....

I haven't been watching all day, was there any mention of Barnes' Pats connection playing with BB? His father was a punter in the 70's...and I think he lost his job to the immortal Eddie Hare
They just briefly mentioned Barnes' father briefly, as a punter for the Pats. They also talked about "Berj" who is caddying for Belichick. Berj is assistant head coach of the NEP, Berj Najerian, and basically the one-man inner circle of BB. He has been BB's right hand man and best friend forever, and literally was (and probably still is) part of BB's contract. BB made it a requirement that Berj come with him when he was hired. I've actually known him and his family forever too. Kind of fun watching this foursome with all of the connections.

edit: I always found this quote about Berj from Bruschi to be hysterical:

On the ESPN set, Tedy Bruschi, the retired Patriots linebacker turned analyst, raised both eyebrows when asked about Najarian. No longer affiliated with the team, he still declined to comment.

"How many people talk about the consigliere?" he said.

I watched it with the sound off last night, so I have no idea what the conversation was. But I was astounded that Johnson took a drop by the green instead of 100+ yards back. If that had been Tiger, Nantz would have been lobbying the PGA to disqualify him.

I don't have a problem with DJ - he had his own moment of being brutalized by the rules and overcame it to win the US Open. But given how his ball caromed off the wall, it seems physically impossible that it last crossed the hazard line up by the green.

tough to tell on the broadcast the shape of the shot. Listening to Spieth and DJ discuss where to drop, Spieth mentioned that it was hooking pretty hard, and started off at the flag. To the naked eye, it looked like he should have dropped it way back, but tough to tell for sure.

I think I want Rahm's putter. I like that one

Yikes 299 list price. I guess I need to commit to actually playing some before I spend that
