Can someone explain the trade logistics here? Why are the Bulls basically picking for Minnesota? Is there a reason the pick wasn't traded?
The trade has to be approved by the league, physicals taken, etc......prior to being official. This is SOP.

the nba has a rule where technically you cant trade the picks on draft night until both picks have been made. hence the constant hat swapping.

Are we sure Cal doesn't double as a Massachusetts state congressmen?

Won't George be looking for a similar 2+1 deal or whatever it is that Haywode is looking for this year? So he can then again hit the open market as a 10 year vet? I don't think the money is all that different
Maybe Hayward would I don't know but George did already have that one "moment" when he thought he'd never play basketball again. It may be different for George to pass on an enormous 5-year deal than it would someone who hasn't ever been through that time when they once thought it was all over. All speculation of course.

Hey TJ, congrats on getting drafted. What do you think the Lakers are getting with Lonzo Ball?

Thoughts:
1. No big surprises in terms of picks.
2. Bulls got taken to the cleaners
3. SAC had a surprisingly competent draft.

The Kings have had a pretty good draft. Let's just hope the LA pick is 2-5 next year as that Kings pick doesn't look like the same lottery ticket it was prior to this draft (still has a chance to be a decent pick).
Disclaimer - Giles may never be healthy, but I still like the pick for the Kings.

Draft could be great and it likely won't affect win totals for a long while. See Minnesota.

Seriously? You expect a couple non-elite and raw one-and-dones to result in winning NBA games? These picks suggest just the opposite.....that they are going to force feed these kids minutes resulting in MORE losses not less.

Oh dear, the Angels just put up a four-spot in the seventh to take an 8-5 lead over the Yankees

The Kings have some good young bigs in WCS and Labissiere. They might actually aspire to mediocrity next year, but some natural disaster will bring down their 2019 record.

Agree about Butler -- Minnesota got him for a surprisingly low price. It turns out that two years before free agency aren't a whole lot more valuable than George's one-and-run.

How could they have known Giles would still be there?
I'm sure those in the know knew who he worked out for or checked him out physically. It wasn't like he slid to 20.....was anyone in the teens seriously mentioned about taking him?

Yes I think that 2019 the Kings may not be one of the five worst teams in the NBA if their picks pan out.
It is tough to judge though as the Sixers have been losing on purpose for years (the process) as have the Lakers. It will be tough to say which teams will actually be bottom feeders as I am not sure which teams will tank on purpose for 2018/2019 yet.
I was not saying the Kings are playoff material. Just saying they seem to be make some un-Kings like moves. I am sure Vlade will find a way to mess it up.

Who are we hoping slides to 37?

Edit: and any chance of packing all three seconds to move up or draft and stash?
If the seconds had been part of a package, it means that Tatum is on the move, so I kinda hope not.

Josh Hart, Thomas Bryant, Josh Bell, Caleb Swanigan would all be nice picks at 37.
Also, Ivan Rabb, Alec Peters or another post-freshman Big who can rebound.

Someone who doesn't mind spending the next 12 months in Eastern Europe
I'm thinking it's a rebounder at 37, a Eurostash at 53 and a wild-ass 3-and-D guess at 57.

At one point he was being discussed as a lottery pick. The last week or so, his stock has been dropping due to his lack of performance and durability issues such that there was talk of him slipping to the 2nd round (and leading him to decide not to show up for the draft in person).
