I can't get over this split-screen. Why would anyone think it's needed?

Show the normal behind the pitcher view until contact.
Last year was better, but did you see the few years before?
The production was awful. They didn't even show half of the balls in flight. It was quick cuts from behind the hitter, behind pitcher, to the outfield...the only cue to what the hell was going on was the counter and whatever Berman was screaming.
I can't imagine what it would be like now that there's actually a timer in play and the pitches are coming quicker than ever.

After having endured that, the split-screen seems like a God-send.
