Damn, that sucks for Brown and the team. I think they win that game easily with him at QB. It double sucks because it helps Notre Dame a bit. ND's win over NC State is one of their few "good" wins on the season, and I said three weeks ago, they'd lose 3 of their last 4, including BC and Clemson, and it would hurt ND, but not to be.

On the bright side, Dillon finishes with 196 yards on 36 carries, and is now up over 1,030 or so for the season.

Frustrating game for sure. NCST played like Crap as well..Several unforced turnovers, and really their NFL QB prospect, played very poorly all day.

Some real baffling Daz stuff. Not going for FG only 4th and 1 on the play after their starting QB had his knee explode if just silly, Calling a trick play instead of using your best player is even sillier.

I do think Chubb is the best player in college football this year

I can smell the fear in this thread. Uconn comin'...

I'll give a quick scouting report: UConn's defense is horrific, the worst BC will face all year. the D-line is adequate, they have one decent LB who got hurt today, and they often play five DBs, four of whom are true freshman becasue the original starters were so bad and slow they had to be replaced. BC will run for 200 yards and throw for 300, even without your QB.

The offense is more creative than in the past (this is relative, UConn had the worst offense in the country the last five years), but just switched QBs to a redshirt kid who can run but can't really throw. I'm guessing 7-10 points might be the most UConn could score in this game.

Fenway is sure to be rockin'

Clears, Not sure BC will throw the ball more than 10 times, and half of those may be gadget plays. I expect BC tries to run the ball 50-60 times next week

I thought they would run Dillon a bunch of times when they got the ball..unltil they had no other choice but to put it up. The chances of him breaking a 15-20 yarder were better than anything they were getting through the air.

If they throw ten times that will equate to 300 yards

BC won’t face more than a 50 yard field more than a couple times all game

When trailing at the half, after yesterday’s loss, they are now 2-28.

This was a bad loss on many, many levels. First they lose their QB for the season most likely.

Second, the loss of the QB may require the coach to burn the redshirt year of an up and coming QB. How that impacts the program 5 years out is anyone’s guess but it does require a bit of rethinking the “big picture”.

Third, this loss essentially put them out of discussions for the Pinstripe, Sun and Orlando. They are now in the Tier II mix with a return trip to Shreveport not beyond the realm of possibility.

Will they go to a bowl? Yes. They should take care of business next week and beat UConn rather easily. I have been wary of playing Syracuse at the dome but they have lost 3 in a row and Wake put up 61 on them yesterday in the Dome so I think BC can play and beat them. 7-5 is still attainable and 6-6 seems pretty certain. The concern now is the long term health of Brown. I wouldn’t burn the redshirt of Perry for this season unless Jarmond has told Daz he needs 7 wins overall to keep his job.

It should be fun at Fenway next weekend. Would like to see BC play one game every 4 years there. Playing the service academies there would be cool, say Veterans Day weekend.

Speaking of veterans, I’m hoping now they get the nod to the Military Bowl in Annapolis. It would be a great take especially if they played Navy. And it would be a good game. For those going to Fenway, enjoy it. Let’s hope for a win

Military bowl is now a Tier 1 bowl for the ACC

well, my greatest fear is out the window, as I said I thought we'd beat RCC and Yukon then lose to 'cuse in the WTF game
New Fear: even HCRE and Yukon know this is going to be a pound the rock game, so they go 9, shit go 11 in the box, and the master of in game adjustments keeps running it up the fucking middle for little to no gain and its like Wake a couple years ago Yukon 3 BC 0

Wade was a mobile kid out of HS, maybe that broken ankle vs FSU a couple years ago really fucked up his running ability, I thought he looked ok in the Spring game, but who really knows. we were talking after the game (and mind you I was deep into the John Daly's and Jameson's) about moving Jeff Smith back to QB and running read option with Dillon and Hillman, I mean this should be enough to beat Yukon (I've seen a couple of their games on TV, Sorry Clears and Beers) they are turribul

I'm looking forward to Sat night as it will be the first time I've been to a football game at Fenway since Dec of '68 (Pats vs Cinn)

He burned the red shirt year for Perry. Tells you all you need to know about how he has NO confidence in Wade...and to give Daz his due, he shouldn't. Not sure what happened to him, whether the injury in the FSU game a few years ago took the wind out of his sails as Moose suggests or if he hit a ceiling but he is not a good QB and the possibility of losing the last 2 games with him at the helm is not beyond the realm of possibility. It's amazing that Daz has been unable to develop a stable of decent QBs in 5 years. He went the 5th year senior route for the last 2-3 years and for whatever reason, couldn't get the QB role under control. Now, his one QB has big upside is down and he has no where to go but to a red shirt and activate him for the last 2 games, ostensibly to save his job. If he goes 5-7, all the good will he garnered in October is out the door.

He has burned a red shirt year to his next QB, all to beat UConn and get to Shreveport. But really to let Daz keep his job. He has created this mess, and he has no reasonable exit strategy. Unbelievable.

He hasn't burned anything yet.
As soon as he walks on that field Saturday night, right after Wade throws one of his patented air balls and the team gets stuck in the mid, Perry, who is now #2 on the depth chart will be tossed in and the red shirt is gone. I will bet you a fenway frank and cold one that the red shirt gets burned before halftime. Cuz we know that Whoever is leading at the half will have a 94% chance of winning the game.

As Perry is another low end Daz recruit ( 2 stars with no other real offers) I am not going to worry too much about burning the RS , now maybe he beats the odds starts for the next 3 years and we wish we hadn't.

But I do agree with you in that this is just another 5 year failure of Daz , unable to recruit any talent at QB and unable to develop the guys he has recruited.

This situation should be another nail in the coffin

If Perry becomes the next great BC QB, then bitch about it, but today it's reads more like complaining about burning a year of Bordner or Marsco or one of the great post-Crane QBs. I mean, we beat out Ohio for him.

True enough, but I will remind you that BC has a history of recruiting "underrecruited" or "non-recruited" players who turn out pretty damn good and productive. To the larger point, my complaint is that he has not been able to recruit and/or develop competent QBs in the 5 years he has been here. That is why we are in this mess now with Perry as the #2, Wade starting and Jeff Smith as the #3 for the balance of the season. Should they beat UConn?... yes. Will they beat UConn?....most likely but I have no confidence in Darius Wade as a QB. If they lost it would surprise me but not shock me.

And I'm not comparing them but don't ever forget #22 was not recruited by any D1 program. He was set to go to UNH before the last scholarship at BC opened back up. Weirder things have happened. Just sayin'

When was the last time we recruited an underrecruited/non-recruited QB that turned out to be anything?

Regardless, people are bitching about something that hasn't even happened yet, which I find impressive.

As a UConn fan I want to assure you that your backup could put up a minimum of 200 yards on our defense. Bob Diaco left behind a horrible mess of talent. Just to prove my point, when Edsall took over the team again in January it became national news when he pulled a scholarship offer from a kid who received one from Diaco. The kid ended up playing at Lafayette, or something like that. He didn't deserve a D1 offer, even with us.
My point being that our pass defense is horrible, our run defense isn't great either, but it would give us a better chance to win if Addazzio gave up the passing game.

“Gave up the passing game”

Ha. Just you wait...Wade won’t be getting to 200 and Daz will run 95% of the time.

There is an NCAA proposal being considered this year that will allow a student-athlete to play four games without using a season of eligibility.

They may be rolling the dice that the rule passes and applies retroactively. The ACC proposed the rule, so BC may have some insight into how that would apply.

you know, I now don't give a shit about burning Perry's red shirt, if it lets us beat Yukon, 'Cuse and gets us in an acceptable bowl, cause if we lose its the Glenn Foley SUNJ memorial bowl
Foley: 'the only Bowl Rutgers is going to is the one I just got off'

Didn’t realize just how bad UConn is. This thing is barely watchable. If I wasn’t a BC fan I would have turned it off at the half. BC will improve to 26-2 when leading at the half under Daz. They get bowl eligible and head to the dome to take on Syracuse who has now dropped 4 in a row their D has given up 56, 64, 27 and 27 and now stand at 4-7 and have not won since the Clemson upset.

Having said all that I see BC, with a Pinstripe Bowl berth on the line....losing to the Cuse.

If you're going to burn Perry's redshirt in a blowout win at least let him throw the ball. Burning it so he can hand the ball off 10 or so times seems pretty pointless.

Keep it classy Randy. He was a failure at the P5 level and now is a sore loser as a G5 coach. You can’t have it both ways. Time to turn the page on this series. I hope Jarmond pulls the plug on this series. Some things never change

I still can’t believe BCs fortune that Michigan saw Dillon as a LB. Dillon is about to obliterate the ACC freshman RB record and could be the best to play at BC.

I know recruiting isn’t an exact science but that is a huge miss by Harbaugh and team.

Absolutely. It’s like the Horace Dodd situation but Dillon is actually a really good RB. That was a major, major whiff by Harbaugh and Michigan fans should be pissed.

That one recruiting flip likely bought Daz as least 1-2 more years. As much as I like to rag on the guy, Dillon is a very large feather in his cap.

few things from the other night,
Clears, I didnt see the announced attendence but I was honestly suprised by the size of the crowd, the grandstands were fairly full because of the rain.. we were in the RF roof on the 40 but went to grandstand after half because of the rain. one of my tailgate buddy's daughter is a Storrs State grad and he got the tickets thru their box office so I paid bust out retail for what I couldve bought for $10 on the street.. and those people were thrilled to see us plop our, well MY fat ass in the 2nd row in full BC atire

takling to a buddy whos a Yukon grad Friday night, I was telling him, and others at Sweet Cheeks (great BBQ) before the game I was ascared for a few reasons
1) field and weather, this was 2nd time all year we were on grass and shitty weather can be an equalizer
2) trap game.. Yukon sucks and I was ascared Daz and staff would be looking onto 'Cuse rather then task at hand
3) Wade how would he do

well i was right on weather and field, what you didnt see on TV was the ground crew coming out during every time out and tamping down divots on the turf, at least it wasn't much of a factor. When it was 3zip at end of 1st with us already having missed an FG, I was worried and said what I alwys say up in QQ 'you can't let a bad team hang around, they'll think they belong' thankfully a couple big runs by Dillon sealed that deal

Wade was OK, in a game manager role, I was stunned to see Perry warming up and Tweeted such to ATL, I think one factor in having him come in burning the shirt is that he is a local kid and just playing in Fenway wold be a thrill and lets face it, he will be #2 next year, good to have a little real game experience under his belt going into that

On to the Dome!

Up by 21 with the Cuse on the door as the 4th qtr starts. If BC can get one more score and give the Cuse D a big dose of Dillon looks like they might take this one today. We’lol see.

They return everyone on O next year except Callinan. Lose some guys on D but overall have a strong unit back. OOC is very winnable (UMass, Cross,Temple and Purdue). The conference schedule is what it is with Miami replacing UVA so it’s tough but this team can play. 9-3 is not beyond realistic.

As for bowl game, Pinstripe looks like a real possibility along with Sun Bowl. As for opponents, Michigan, Iowa or Northwestern appear in the running with Iowa in the lead I would say. As to ElPaso look for Arizona, Oregon or UCLA with Arizona having the inside track ( a rematch of Shreveport a few years ago?). Time will tell but it’s always great to be bowling.

That OOC schedule is beyond hideously weak

FSU should be stronger next year
Louisville and NC state should be weaker

Probably another 7-5 season
Tough IC schedule

I think they need that particular bowl, with all the alums that would potentially go; to revive some interest in the program. They have a team right now that would seem to deserve it. I doubt they are at the point where they'd sell any appreciable number of junkets to El Paso.

No doubt. Tons of alums nearby and the draw of Dillon would give BC fans reason to come. I’d go if it’s nearby. I’m not bothering with the Military Bowl because Navy bores the shit out of me and no chance I’m traveling to El Paso, Shreveport, etc. Jarmond needs to lobby hard for Pinstripe.

Supposedly there’s a large Catholic population in El Paso so that could draw some locals. I also think it is one of the bowls that gets lots of local support and is a “TV Bowl” which benefits BC.

As long as Dillon is healthy this team can win 8+ games next year. It also looks like Daz had his Dabo moment and is letting the coordinators do their jobs.

Yeah I know better than to have too high of hopes for this team, but they're returning A LOT of talent.

I said it here before but this isn't one of those BC teams that is unathletic and gets by on being technically sound. They have some legit explosive playmakers on offense and are pretty big and fast on defense.
