Not sure why the NYT has that story and not the Boston media. Good piece.
Maybe because Michael Holley does only long form.

One asshole columnist contaminates the Globe, another the Herald. Both have written solid complimentary pieces, but too much assholery may have burned the bridges. Along those lines, you know what ESPN gets with the retirement of Belichick’s bff Chris Berman? Nothing.

The Times certainly has had its share of a-holes, but their pile on has been more sporadic and less intense.

Sounds like the key ingredient is that Zo is humble and a good listener, rather than him knowing anything particular, or even Belichick enjoying being around him. Oh, and him not angling to stab Belichick in the back for the sake of a few pageviews like the rest of the sharks Belichick has been studiously ignoring for 18 years. But even so, that speaks well of Zolak.

While I cannot stand Zolak's in-game efforts, this does speak well of him.

This probably helps too:
“I worked closer with him at that time than I did with Drew,” Belichick said during a break in the taping of the show. “He was great at it. He knew the game, he’s smart and he always had a great sense of humor. Everyone got along with him, plus he could throw the hell out of the ball.”
I wonder whether B.B. thinks Zolak could’ve (or should’ve) had more of a career as a QB.
