He was having a low-key horrific season for the Pistons: .497 true shooting, more turnovers than assists, and an insane drop in rebound rate, from 6.6 per 36 last season to 2.7 this season. By RPM he's currently worst regular shooting guard in the NBA at -3.32, including a -1.45 on D.
Avery was shooting 38% behind the arc, above his career avg. Criticizing his RebRate when sharing the floor with Drummond is ridiculous. He struggled more finishing in the paint than he has in the past while also getting 24% of those shots blocked. It doesn't seem like he was used very efficiently.

2.7 boards per 36 is still not good for a (mostly) wing player, even if you're playing alongside the love child of Bill Russell and Dave Cowens. You rarely see player's' rebound rates fluctuate that much from one team or system to another. And 38% from beyond the arc doesn't mean that much if you're not getting up enough threes and/or taking so many ill-advised long twos that your ts% is under .500.

I'm sure a big part of is that he's being used more inefficiently this year — that was implied with "he was having a horrific season." If we're projecting him going forward I'd probably use a baseline somewhere between this season and his peak 2016-17 season under Stevens (17.5 pts and 6.6 reb pr 36, .548 ts).

It absolutely is due to playing a completely different role. Avery is NEVER going to aggressively go after defensive rebounds when Drummond is on the floor nor should he. We've seen similar fluctuations with others who have played with Drummond....most notably our own Marcus Morris who had a RebRate of 16.9 the year in Phoenix, 12.8 and 12.4 next to Drummond, and 19.8 as a Celtic.

Rough night for KD, who finished with 33 points on 8/14 shooting and yet was -17 for the game.

PG is averaging 21/5/3 and shooting .44/.42/81 and leading the league in steals. He's maybe the defensive player of the year as well. I think he has strong case for being a top five MVP candidate this year.

So when do we start the Warriors Train Wreck thread?
Standard NBA Dog Days of February performance. First game back home after time on the road also was likely a factor as that is a very difficult game to play. It's the second time OKC has taken it to the Warriors so something to keep an eye on......they could be one of those teams that matchup very well with them.

Just the mere rumour of Lebron having a meeting with the Warriors has infected them.

BTW Lebron has been leaking to the press that it's Steph's lack of defense and KD's shot selection that has been hurting their 2019 title chances. Time for Bob and LBJ to have a pow-wow and figure out moves that need to be made.

Good no-trade, Danny! Maybe Phil was crazy like a fox trying to alienate him.

Jokes aside, I feel terrible for Porzingis though. He's the one bright spot the Knicks have had in, like, ten years, and he's such a fun player to watch.

Weird question, does anyone remember a website that was posted on here, maybe last season or the year before that; that basically had a GIF of every made basket from the NBA? Like, I could type in "Jonas Valanciunas" and it would come up with GIFs of all the baskets Valanciunas scored from last night.

I'm positive I've seen this before, but I can't seem to find it online.

I totally remember this too. I think it may have been short video clips, and not gifs though. I did find this, which sort of jogs my memory. haven't figured out how to navaigate to different games though, but this shows a quick video of every 3PA for a specific game

Pistons move to 3-0 with Blake. Drummond goes for 17 and 27. I would like to know what some teams refused to give up last offseason when Detroit was reportedly shopping him and not asking for much.

And his FT % is still north of 60. I was a skeptic that it’d hold up but we’re 2/3 done with the season and he’s kept it up. Going to be an interest race for those last 2-3 spots in the East.

Yeah after the Cleveland game was over they cut to that one and the first thing out of Dave Pasch's mouth is "Phoenix playing without Devin Booker tonight." I changed the channel because I didn't want to watch what it was like when Tyler Ulis is the first scoring option on an NBA team.

Phoenix an astoundingly bad 3 of 32 from 3 pt. range last night. Take away Bender (2-4) and Daniels (1/4) and they were 0 for 24 (Jackson 0-4).

Anybody who doesn’t think Brad is awesome should see what OKC looks like with Westbrook and Melo out.

Cavs up 15 against the Hawks with a 7 man (8 including Holland, who's played a minute) rotation. Korver is 7 for 9 from 3, putting up 28 points in 3 quarters.

LaVine with 35 and some big baskets down the stretch against Minnesota in Butler’s return to Chicago.

One week after CJ McCollum had 50 through three quarters, Lillard matches him with 50 through three quarters tonight in Sacramento.

Kris Dunn practiced with the Bulls on Thursday. He's essentially been on bed rest for the past 3-4 weeks following the concussion so getting his conditioning back won't happen overnight. The part I'm scared about is that the Bulls are leaving it up to him to decide on participating in All Star Weekends Rising Stars Challenge.......he could look real ugly out there if he isn't back up to speed or really good in that type of setting.

I’m pretty sure everyone is going to look good in that setting.

I've been a Bender skeptic, but I wonder if he might be turning a corner. Last five games (SSS) he's put up some decent numbers: .538 FG, .519 3P, 15.4 points per game. He's been seeing higher usage, not unsurprisingly, and I wonder if that's helping. He just turned 20 in November, so he's still pretty young.

Putting up some numbers on a brutally bad team is better than not putting up numbers on a brutally bad team but should be taken with a grain of salt. Bender had his best offensive game of the year last night vs Denver....didn't see it but Josh Jackson also got off 19 shots, someone has to shoot the ball in these games. The two prior were pretty brutal, 2-10 in a blowout loss to the Lakers and 12/6 in 31 minutes of a 50-point loss to the Spurs where you'd hope someone would step up in Booker's absence. I had the misfortune of having that Spurs game on in the background that night......good job, good effort ESPN.

I mentioned upthread that I had a chance to watch Bender a little and statistics notwithstanding, I think he's going to be really good. To me, the biggest thing is that he seems to be in the right place defensively and he can guard multiple positions. Those skills and the ability to shoot the 3P at a good clip would make him valuable enough but I think he goes further than 3&D.

Assuming his body holds out.

Is there a site that has strength of remaining schedule (that's update regularly)? I could have sworn I've saw it somewhere but can't find it to save my life right now
