I'll admit I'm not 100% sure about soccer rules, but that has to definitely be a goal, right? Is this under some weird review right now, or was it a blown call?
We don't often have to talk about it because the keeper is usually on his line but when he comes out it changes the last man determjnation. Sane is I believe in an offside position but if the ball is played by Milner then it doesn't mattwr

Ball came back from Milner, so it should have been a goal. Refs clearly didn´t see it correct.
If the ball came from a City player, it´s offside, as Sané was behind the keeper and there´s only one player behind him.

VAR should be implemented at this point, IMO it’s a blight on the game that it isn’t.

In this tournament, an incorrect offside that was onside twice over (Milner played it back, and Sané was onside) should not decide the outcome

Edit: Schnerres rightly points out that Karius was ahead of the ball so it’s only offside once-over. Still

As a neutral, this game is awesome. The pace is incredible. We need a second City goal though to really make things interesting.

I'm watching on a shady stream, but did they definitely call offside on that or was it for a foul on Karius? Either call would be BS but I missed the flag going up

I've got no sound but the call looked pretty clearly to me to be offside.

From the first angle we saw from in front of the goal, it looked like Jesus tapped the ball forward from between Milner's legs, but the side angle looks like it was actually off Milner. Definitely playing with fire here.

If the ball comes from Milner, then it´s no offside. If it comes from a city player, then Sané is offside. The ref must have thought it was a City pass/shot and the assistant lifted the flag no matter what. They talked and made the call.

Pep sent to the stands is absurd. Bernardo protests a call and gets a card. Robertson does the same thing minutes later after failing to fully tackle Sterling and gets nothing. Just absurd refereeing in this match

Pep actually referenced a bad call this ref made last year when discussing the game, before he was even assigned to this one. Yet UEFA still gave him the game.

De Bruyne is just a phenomenal player. He makes those driven cross-field balls like so easy. But Walker just tried one and missed by 20 yards.

No right to complain as a Liverpool supporter given the missed goal, but Mahoz has truly made this leg about him

I've never understood the point of sending a coach to the stands but openly allowing him to communicate with people on the bench. Either send him to the locker room or let him stay on the sidelines. This is silly.

I agree, if he's sent off he shouldn't be allowed to communicate with the bench.

Such uneven refereeing. Firmino taken down, no call...but VVD carded because he tossed off an Englishman riding his back?

Sane is an immense talent, but he's not quite there yet as a finished product. There's a level of consistent quality that he'll probably develop in the next couple years that will make him world class. How may times can he get caught offside?

Aguero for Silva is going all in on. I wonder what Pep would have done if he were still coaching this match? Oh, never mind...

Hard to believe all of these subs get used and Sane remains on. In other news, Suarez is a clown. I think it was Kolarov who made a late run on the last Roma attack which if it was, I'm incredibly impressed with his workrate.
