CB has to be one of the hardest jobs in sports. Especially in this era.
Not only are rules stacked against you but so are the physical matchups.
I mean you have to be able to run like a deer....matchup with 6'2+ Guys who weigh around 215+ and run 4.3s. You have to jump higher then them, be stronger then them, out cut them and out run them. You also need to come up and fill the edge on running plays against RBs who are 210-230+. Sometimes they even ask you to cover the slew of new 6'4 250+ TEs who can either knock you on your ass, run over or bye you. You do this pretty much every play. Meanwhile AJ Green, Gurley and Gronk rotate in and out on a regular basis one replacing the other.

P.S. BB rarely takes a player back (recent notable exception being Chung). I don't see Revis coming back to NE but if he does, I bet he'll find a role that suits his current set of skills.
LGBT has to be the new standard here, yeah?

I mean, I still have trouble believing there isn't a rule against the shit he pulled. And then he got a frickin' ring. :)

Maybe out of place in this Jets thread, but for people who know things, does Revis profile as the type of player who could make the move to safety (like Charles Woodson, among others) as he continues to get older? (Not that the Patriots have a pressing need at safety at the moment or likely even in the near future).

He was always a physical corner in the sense that he liked to clutch and grab receivers, but I don't think he's evern been a real big fan of mixing it up and tackling.

He has always been best in man coverage. He had some issues in Tampa when they were using him in zone, which I would think make the transition to safety tougher. He would probably be great against tight ends, like Chung has been used. I doubt he would be interested in a role like that, and he certainly wouldn't be worth anywhere near where he's being paid.

I completely forgot that he was on Tampa for a year.

The 718
Revis has never been a big hitter. All of the great safeties I'm thinking of had reputations as bone-crunching tacklers.

Bowles confuses me. Last year he did a very good job in getting the team back on some success. 10-6, acting like professionals for once after the Sexy Rexy circus finally left town, a sensible guy with a good aptitude for football.

So what the hell happened this year? Was last year all about Fitzpatrick and when he stunk this year they had no choice but to suck horribly?

I think the DL contract situations had an impact too. Revis getting hurt. Letting Ivory go (not that Forte has been bad). Decker hurt. Lots of little things added up.

They're really old, too. All of their top 12 players in AV in 2015 were at least 26, and seven were in their 30's, including Fitzpatrick, their best receiver (Marshall), 60% of the OL (Ferguson, Mangold, Giacomini), David Harris, and both starting CBs (Revis and Cromartie).

Fitz versus the Patriots pass defense is a classic matchup of 'stoppable force vs moveable object.' If the Pats can't get a few interceptions this week, they might never.

They hate their coach

Too soon?

Remember when Bowles was going to present a formidable challenge to BB / the Pats in the East?

"I don't think the Jets have thrown to a Tight End since Kyle Brady was here" John Gruden MNF

I only watched about a half hour last night, but I've never heard an announcer more critical of a team than Gruden was on the Jets. McDonough also.

La Mancha.
So which stud DL will they draft with their top 5 pick this year?
Just for kicks I Googled "NFL mock draft 2017" and the first five hits have them taking Peppers, Fournette, Fournette, Peppers, and Peppers at #5 overall. Either a guy with no NFL position or a running back, because, you know, Elliott: sounds about right.

That was great, thanks for posting!

Love the audience reaction. They were getting fed the subtitles too, right?
