Couldn't get him 6 more points?! If I'm not mistaken, we haven't seen a quadruple double since the Admiral in the mid-90s.
yep, most recent of the 4 all-time is Robinson with 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 blocks in February of 1994.
The most impressive of the 4 was probably:
22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 blocks by Nate Thurmond in 1974

Edit- though the most impressive game was actually a near miss.
Larry Bird 1985- 30 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, 9 Steals.... IN THREE QUARTERS!

They didn't keep track of blocks or steals until the early 70s; so Wilt and Russell would have had a few dozen each.

I know there is reference to this in the the media forum but Simmons podcast with Kevin Durant is must listening for any basketball fan. Its fascinating and anyone choosing to believe the easy narrative of Durant being a deferential guy who decided to take the easy way out is going to be disappointed. He is fantastic and Simmons does a great job.

Eh it isn't OKC's fault the NBA moved the franchise away from Seattle. Should they never be proud of the Thunder because of how they left Seattle? They also loved Durant and always supported him--so I understand their frustration.

Yeah but their frustration should be aimed at the organization that had their own big three plus a very good fourth in Ibaka and yet traded away Harden and went cheap on the bench. Durant got sick of climbing up the same hill every year, only to get rolled back down because Russ' heroball and ISOs don't work as great in April and beyond as they do in January and February when players are tired, banged up and hung over on the reg.

I got some grief for being an early supporter of Saric but dude can play. He should play 10+ years in this league.
His passing is legit. Having multiple guys his size with that passing vision and ability is going to be very interesting.
I forget who but someone smart was saying on a podcast that passing from your PF is what can separate you. You expect you guards and wings to have passing chops, but PF not so much. It can really make a difference.

For the Sixers, it's really interesting if simmons and saric can coexist the passing at the size is probably off the chart, if not then you have a guy who can replicate some of the big passing stuff, which allows you to run some similar sets as with simmons.

I wouldn't boo Durant; but I understand the rationale behind doing it. I think it's great for the NBA.

So the Cavs picked up Derrick Williams on a 10-day contract and he's likely to be signed for longer - giving them the #1, #2, and #4 picks from the 2011 draft.

Last night the Cavs rolled out a lineup of LBJ, Williams, Jefferson, Korver, and Frye and had Williams bring up the ball a couple of times and defend the Nuggets' PG.

Williams has never been on a team that has won more than 32 games IMO.

As LBJ said, it's not often the #1 team in the conference can pick up a 25 year old player with his kind of athleticism. Great move.

Assuming Boston is the 2nd best team in the east, who is the 3rd? Is it Toronto or Washington? Someone else? Washington is 26-8 in their last 34, 15-3 in their last 18. Granted, Toronto went 3-4 during the stretch DeRozan was gone which didn't help them. Washington also has no bench, but their starting 5 average 34mpg, with Gortat at the low end at 32.1 and Wall leading the way at 36.7. Also, Otto Potter is at a ridiculous .532/.460/.780 line.

Potter by month FG/3FG 3pm/3pa Percentge of Shots that were 3pointers
November .526/.421 1.6/3.8 33.2
December .583/.492 2.1/4.2 45.2
January.. .509/.494 2.6/5.2 49.1
February. .500/.452 2.8/6.2 62.0
total........ .532/.460 2.1/4.5 43.3

He's the only non Center in the top 5 (5th) in Adjusted FG% at 63.2%. Jae Crowded is the 2nd non Center (8th) at .593. Durant and Curry come in at 9 and 10 (.592, .591). Also, Kevin Durant is shooting a ridiculous 60.3% from 2 this year. Potter is at .585 but doesn't qualify.

Makes you wonder how lights out guys like Potter and Booker will be when they hit their primes. Especially Booker.

For a guy who turned 20 at the beginning of the year, Booker doesn't get much hype. Last 20 games: 36.9mpg .453/.433/.841 25.3ppg 2.7rpg, 3.3apg. He's averaging 19 shots, 5.8 threes and getting to the line 6.9 times per game. He's going to lead the league in scoring one day while doing little else.

Next time you're on a basketball court, imagine getting the ball at half court, taking one dribble, and dunking without traveling. It doesn't even make sense.

Videos like this aren't helping me get over the 2013 draft! Guy is flat out amazing. If that 3pt shot ever comes, it's game over.

Haven't seen him play much, but is Willy Hernangomez actually good? He can rebound a ball anyway. Knicks up 4 against the Spurs with 28 seconds left.

If I were choosing a username for SoSH right now, I would be deeply torn between "Dion Waiters B-Boy Stance" and "Buddy Hield Nut Cracker".

Buddy getting ejected was a total joke. That wasn't even a foul; he got all ball.

The NBA scheduling is so asinine. I hate the warriors but seriously a back to back after the OKC game? Incredibly unfair.

Also, my clipps aren't on the dubs, spurs or even rockets level but people need to calm down about the jazz. They're OK but they'll get smacked up in the playoffs

DEN blows out GSW in part because of a 22-9 turnover margin.

Wait. DEN lost the turnover battle by 13 and still won by 20+?

Oh yeah, GSW shot 8-32 from 3P land but DEN shot 24-40 (!?!) for a +48 point margin.

Nelson, Barton, Harris, and Hernangomez go for 19-31. Guessing GSW did not play much defense missing Klay.

Quite the game for Juancho Hernangomez too. In limited time, he has shown great range and has got more burn of late due to all their injuries and his role may grow even bigger as he matches up well with Plumlee.

Yeah the Hernangomez boys are taking over.

Also, can we all thank Jameer Nelson for blessing us with this pass:

I think Doc is kind of an overrated coach, but Davis might not have been in the NBA if it wasn't for Doc. He is the last person (maybe Austin Rivers) that should be complaining about Doc.

If you had told me the NBA team record for most made threes in a game would be tied in the Denver/Golden State game tonight, I would have guessed Golden State
The Nuggets averaged 116.6ppg in January and are at 111.6 for February. They also play no defense and only the Suns and Nets give up more points. Since they made the transition from Nurkik to Jokic, their offense went to another level. If they are ever fully healthy, you can make the claim they are 12 deep, at the very least 10. The have a ton of offensive talent on the team. Curious what they will get for Gallinari if he is traded and/or they add someone like Harris to the mix in a 5 quarters for a dollar type of move. I'd say either a 1st or 2nd option to go along side Jokic but it looks like Murray and Harris could emerge into that roll eventually or an upgrade at PG but Mudiay is still only 20 years old.

Denver is actually in a pretty good trading position. They are below the floor and have lots of young talent. They should be looking for some more defensive minded players though. Plumlee over Nurkik helps immensely but right now Denver has like 5-6 guys out injured. They were on a 7 man rotation last night and were forced to play Hernangomez 33 minutes again. All their guys are expected back after the all star break, so none of the injuries are long term. They'll have to do something else though, you'd think. They are in that position where making the playoffs is better than a lottery pick. They are going to be really good, really soon.

edit: Kinda like the Celtics making the playoffs the season after the Marcus Smart draft.

Aaron Sanchez is looking like a tatted-up Emeril Lagasse these days.

On a semi-related note; when Gronkowski retires, we're going to be seeing him in this game, won't we?

No one seems to note how utterly awful Jokic defense is. His rim protection stats are just a horror show.

I mean clearly he's a force offensively but having a liability at the rim on a not great defensive team is a problem.

Denver doesn't play defense at all but they are significantly better with him in the game defensively than when he is not. Plumlee should help a little too.

Haven't seen many LAC games this year. Is Austin Rivers actually turning into a servicable basketball player? He's at a career high .441/.399 mark.
Over his last 32 games: .452/.424/.720 15.2ppg, 3.7 apg, 2.3rpg in 32.6 minutes a night. Dude has come a long way.

Yeah the story is now he is actually a serviceable player and trade bait for a better team. He was a highly valued prospect; just took him some time to develop.
