Washington is going for 8 straight wins too. Pacers are at 7, Heat are going for 11 but blew a pretty big lead against Minnesota. 10 minutes to go in the 4th.

I'm also going to make the prediction the Wolves do better without LaVine the rest of the way.

Agreed. Also tonight might be the night that finally pushes Melo out of NY. Totally embarrassed at home by the Baby Lakers. And LeBron actually fouled out. It's one of those nights.

The Wolves fall 2 points short of the comeback giving the Heat 11 straight wins. 2 more wins than the lowly Nets we were comparing them to not even a month ago.

That LeBron shot was just insane. The EC is all of a sudden looking pretty decent.

When do teams start tanking? After the all star break? After more than 4 teams are more than 4 games out of the playoffs?

It'd make sense for the Lakers and the Sixers to start tanking. Since players don't lose on purpose, I'm not sure how the Lakers accomplish this and given how cautious the Sixers are being with Embiid... it can be accomplished with little effort.

I caught the Cavs recap this morning. That was a pretty sick game. Hat tip to Lebron for that last second huck. That had no business going on. It was a horrendous look.

It makes sense for the Sixers to tank, but it also sucks that tanking is something they would do, after this shitshow product they have presented to fans for years. For most of January they were one of more fun teams in the league to watch. Tanking now and putting out a total crap product seems like a waste in terms of the overall league. And yes, I realize the high stakes here, if they finish worse than the Lakers they increase their chances of getting another top 3 pick.

It's not even really tanking if Embiid is legit hurt. The team without him on the court is just as bad as the Nets.

Six lead changes in the final 38 seconds of that POR/DAL game, pretty exciting (and pretty lousy D), finally won by an offbalance fling from McCollum with .3 seconds left.

He had that shot all the way. Surprised nobody fronted him.

Edit: Harrison Barnes with classic turnstile defense.
Yep. The more I watch him, the more I sorta debate who is more valuable to that team, him or Lillard. Both play hardly any D at all. Regardless, I'll be at the game Thursday for the C's game here. Should be a good one.

Evan Turner (right hand fracture, third metacarpal) will not return to tonight's game in Dallas.
Turner broke his hand fighting through a screen but stayed in the game for over two more minutes. At the end of his stint, he picked up a loose ball under the Mavericks' basket, dribbled past half-court (left-handed), then threw a 30-foot pass (left-handed) to Aminu for a lay-up.

[edit: grievous misspelling]

“@FisolaNYDN: Charles Oakley was said to be yelling at James Dolan and was warned to stop, according to a source. He continued and was then asked to leave”

“@FisolaNYDN: Charles Oakley has been upset that the franchise, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary, haven’t included him in any events.”

“@FisolaNYDN: Charles Oakley has been critical of the Knicks and James Dolan. His punishment has been no tickets and banishment from the organization.”

“@FisolaNYDN: It’s a sad story because Charles, a beloved Knick, gave this franchise everything he had. He embodied what the Knicks should represent.”

“@FisolaNYDN: For the Knicks to issue a press release about Oak and say ”we hope he gets some help soon“ is despicable.”

The Bucks have the shittiest luck ever. Khris Middleton returned tonight..... but it looks like Jabari Parker just blew out his knee again.

Assuming they don't won 8 more in a row, the Heat have to be shattering the record for the longest winning streak in NBA history that will end with a team still below .500.

Ex-players are killing the Knicks for the Oakley situation, saying all the statements were unnecessary but I'm not so sure. Everyone saw it happen; it would be weird if they didn't say anything.

They could have addressed it without being pricks. That was a clear dig at the end.

Dolan is a loathsome piece of garbage who makes me want to institute a proper estate tax just to keep useless fathers from ruining valuable businesses by handing it over to their Spaulding Smails. That said, Oakley committed assault, more than once, court side at a Knicks game and you need to say SOMETHING

Amazing that since January 25, the Kings have beaten GSW, CLE, and BOS and lost to PHO, PHI (without Embiid), and IND.

Although they are not out of the playoffs yet.

He was warned. He was given an explanation. Nevertheless, he persisted.

CJ is slightly younger and has had less court time, so potentially room for more growth. This is only his 2nd year as a starter. He's also making a run at 50/40/90 and has been improving as the season goes along.

Ultimately, I guess it's team dependent on who would offer more value. CJ would be a better match with IT than Lilliard. It's definitely debatable who is better between the two.

Looking like it may just be a hyperextension, but not in the clear yet.

They beat Houston and GS but outside of that, it's been an easy schedule. Their next 3 games: Nets, Sixers, Magic. Then the Rockets again, the team that started it all.

Besides the two wins against BRK, and the one win against MIN, every other team hthey beat during this streak ad a better record than them.

They were the 2nd worst team in the league when the record started, so it would be hard for that not to be the case.

Also, the Jazz are now 22-7 when George Hill plays. That would make them 40-13 and half a game behind the Spurs.

Jabari tore his ACL again, done for this year, Kidd said he's expected to miss 12 months, so they'll likely be without him until next year's all-star break.

Ugh. Torn ACL for Jabari, out ~12 months. Horrible luck (again) for a guy so young and talented. Get well soon, Jabari.

Man, that just really sucks. Was having a great breakout season and now basically misses almost all of next season. What a gut punch injury for Bucks fans. Have to wonder about whether there is a longterm issue with that knee.

The Cavs, Celtics, Raps just took a sigh. The bucks weren't winning anything this year but they were going to be a tough out

It wouldn't be that tough of an out considering they probably weren't even going to make the playoffs before Jabari's injury.

I don't know, they were only a game out of the 8 seed going into last night with their second best player having missed the entire season to that point. I think with both Middleton and Jabari healthy for the rest of the season they were likely a playoff team, and would have been underseeded. Now it's a tougher road, but I'm not sure I'd count them out yet. Middleton is really good, and important to their system.

Yeah I think they easily would have made the playoffs and even been the 7 seed. They would have been a tough playoff matchup for anyone. Feel bad for Jabari. He was looking terrific.

Think Milwaukee getting a Top10 pick..this NBA version is really unpredictable: last month, they were on the opposite of the current Heat path.

Steve Kerr shot the shit with Bill Simmons the other day on a whole gamut of topics — MJ, Stockton, TB12, SC30, the Dubs, Brad Stevens, etc etc. Fantastically good read, even for non-Ws fans.

This is fantastic even if you aren't a Warriors fan. Thanks for posting.

I love his anecdote about playing against Stockton.

well that answers the question:

If Oak brawls in the garden, and Dolan is there to hear it, does he hit the ground?

Best comment I read:

Willis Reed is going to limp out of the tunnel moments before tip-off and beat the shit out of Dolan.
