Apparently they had RG3 playing on the scout team in practice.

At Safety.

Holy shit.

Just found this at the Post, seems well considered:

"it doesnt sound like an attempt to embarrass Griffin or a move that will increase his likelihood of injury. Griffins a third-stringer and hes doing something that all of the Redskins third-stringers are asked to do."

If he gets hurt at safety in practice and locks in his option for next year it would be so lolskins. I mean if not for that clause, screw it. But you really want to risk paying him 16.5mm next year?!! For some practice waste of time at safety? That seems an insane risk reward decision.

It has to be about getting him to listen, doesn't it?

Ok reading that even RGIII would struggle to get injured doing this. That said I'd not have him anywhere near a situation where he could claim that money.
Agree.

That said, for once -- and it's quite rare -- there is nothing to see here beyond how the mighty have fallen.

I would release him, but they are scared to death he winds up in Philly or Dallas.

If RGIII wants that, they are not going to be able to stop him because no team is going to take that contract in a trade. He can simply play out the year and then go where he wants when the team declines his option for year year, as it surely must.

Not releasing a player who cant beat out Kirk Cousins or Colt McCoy because he might go to a rival while risking getting saddled with a $16MM bullet next year if he gets hurt is so Redskins it hurts.

Yup. Plus Dan probably is keeping him around as well to screw with Gruden and probably McCloughan too -- Produce with Cousins or else.

There is no more hopeless position in sports than to be a fan of a team with an awful owner, especially when the owner is young.
