I'm for Brighton but I think it was a bit reckless.

Brighton pressing with 10. Gotta be tough. There's a goal left in this one, for whom I'm not sure.

Boro deserved it. We'll do it the hard way (against Wednesday et al.) A few more opportunities to watch high-wire soccer this season, that's my silver lining.

Tough game, Boro's antics were a bit off putting.

Two very good, even games between Brighton and Wednesday this season.

Dunk out for the game on Friday and Stephens out for both legs. That's gotta hurt (although I recall Goldson playing very well against Wednesday last meeting)

Dunk will be a big loss. Greer is back to help, but it's not ideal. A psychological letdown after the Boro match is also a bit of a concern. Here's hoping we get some good drama.

Hoy, the first 90 minutes of reckoning are upon us. Here's hoping whomever wins in this round goes all the way up.

AFC Wimbledon are currently in a playoff spot in League Two. It would be hilarious if MK Dons were relegated to League One the same season Wimbledon were promoted into it.
So MK is officially down to League One, and AFC Wimbledon will begin L2 promotion playoffs on Saturday against Accrington Stanley. This could still happen.

AFC Wimbledon starred in the English 9th tier in 2003. 13 years later, they could be playing in the third tier against many teams who are only a couple years removed from the EPL. That's nuts.

Agree to that, cheers.

I expect you'll see

Westwood
Pudil--lees--loovens--hunt
Bannan--lee--Lopez--forestieri
Nuihu--Hooper

The midfield will be fluid, with Lopez playing as a distributor and lee going box to box. Forestieri and banan will move around a lot, both are very active. Nuihu (or Joao) will be the target man up front and Hooper will clean up the garbage. The other possible option would be Wallace in for forestieri and forestieri moving up front behind Joao or Nuihu in a 4-4-1-1. Forestieri and hooper don't work well in that setup. Given hoopers recent return to form and Lopez's excellent form, I'd guess that's what you see.

With that lineup, you'll see the attack come from midfield ball control with help from the strong side FB or long balls to the target man with hooper and a mid fielder attacking from behind. If for some reason Hutchinson plays instead of
Lopez, you'll see more flank attacks with the FB going up and hutch dropping back into more of a 3 CB setup.

If people have never seen the owls, watch Barry bannan. The wee Scotsman does a lot of stuff that may not get noticed initially, but he will be covering every inch of turf today.

Packed Hillsborough today, should be an amazing atmosphere. I can't wait.

WTF??

He was clearly offside when the keeper cleared it and it wasn't flicked on to him afterwards. But, if you're allowed to reestablish yourself I don't see how that wasn't the case in that instance.

Any lingering resentment Brighton were carrying over about the reffing of the Boro match should probably dissipate after that call. Should have been 1-0.

After replays I'm inclined to say the refs got it correct. However I don't think I've ever seen a flag go up that late. It reminded me of when the refs huddled and reversed the call on Manny's homer in Cleveland in '07. Sensible replay is really overdue for soccer.

Wednesday deservedly up 1-0 at the break. Brighton lost two key players to injury along the way. Got a bit of a sinking feeling right now.

Great crowd, unsurprising. Even though the football has been shite, Wednesday fans have always been great, and Hillsborough is one of the great old parks.

That call was horseshit because Forestieri reestablished himself, and the delay on the call was embarrassing. Mariner has had a couple of other gaffes, seems to be choking a bit.

Stunned Carlos went with the hooper/Forestieri up front, but it's been working, especially to get Wallace back in.

Really like to see another. Good news is Wednesday has been a much better second half team. I'd expect to get a taste of Nuihu before its all over.

Bummer about those injuries, those are key players.

I don't lik that sub...Wallace has been suspEnded so I didn't expect him to go 90, but matias, for all his offensive skills, is a bit of a liability the other way.

And wtf glenn loovens?!

Talk about an uninspiring effort..... Derby fall to Hull 3-0 at home.

While they enjoyed some possession in the opening 20 minutes, they never came close to threatening. Didn't record a shot on goal until the 86th minute.

And after Hull's opening goal the team seemed to completely turtle.

Looks like it's another year of following a team via radio for me.

I thought the second goal was lucky, but yeah, tough show by Derby. Sucks to see a complete no-show in a game that big. Hull is a very good squad, lot of size and speed* and they are well organized. Of all the teams I saw this year I thought they were probably 2nd best, but this league is so strange.

Investor- do you use Rams Player? I assume that's where you get the radio call and you can access full game video about 24 hours after.

Yeah, I use the Rams Player. I've actually grown to like listening to the game on radio as I like the commentators for Derby. Obviously, I'd much rather be watching them live.

Listening to the post game show, there was some questioning by Owen Bradley, Rams commentator, on whether Wassall could be gone before the game on Tuesday. Though, I'd imagine that was more emotion speaking than anything else.

Lot of angst around the club it seems. Has been a similar feeling at Wednesday for a while (for different reasons I think). Proud club, little bit lost in the FL.

I agree that the radio can be nice ( I always schedule errands for 10am Saturday), but seeing a live game is the best. That's all I want from promotion, just the chance to watch every week.

Derby were toothless but the first goal was off a long punt and completely against the run of play, the second was a pinball deflection and the third was prototypical last minute breakaway malarkey against a team desperate to salvage something for the second leg.

I'm a Hull City Tigerz fan and there has been very little to augur a win like that over the last 6-8 weeks. I'll fookin take it, obviously, but it is what it is, and other such cliches, as far as a 90 minute referendum on Derby's season goes...

For me, and it's jumping the gun, but a Hull V Sheff Weds final would be win win. Both Yorkshire, my cousin's a season ticket holder for Hull and, well I'd be chuffed for Justin if The Owls went up, cos he never went for a money bags club, or put his affections for Sheffield to the side when it got trendy to get into fitbaw and pick a top team.

Great start by Brighton. Awesome free kick, deserved better. Great D by Tom Lees to stop another great look.

Really need to hold that ball for a minute.

Oh Christ, that header. I'm going to be sick here.

I wish I could say that Wednesday was playing real bad, as they have been very sloppy, but most of the mistakes have been because of Brighton pressure. Totally owning the midfield, every cross on the mark, winning every ball, just ruthless in attack. I've seen Brighton a few times this season, nothing like this. Actually not a bad job of defending by the Wednesday back 4, Brighton has just been relentless.

Good news (for me) is that there have been numerous games this season (as in 10-15) where Wednesday had a first half that ranged from uninspiring to wretched, and in all but 2 that I can recall, they were a different team in the second half. Carlos excels at HT adjustments, and we're going to need them. Edit: great call, Hutch probably should have started on the road. Lopez is a possession guy, Hutch will boss the midfield back. And get a card for sure.

And that Stockdale save...two great goalies today.

I think officials really need to start taking note of what happens on the field. Sheff Wednesday's goal clearly should not have stood. How a linesman and a referee could miss such a blatant push is ridiculous.

Hooper was shoved by Greer just seconds before that. Lot of shoving going on in that box. Reverse angle showed that Dunk wasn't in the path of the ball regardless.

Congrats to Hoy and the Owls. Deserved victors and I'm tipping them to go all the way.

Brighton will be back. Until then, this is how I'm consoling myself.

Derby not dead just yet. An early goal from a nice run by Cyrus Christie and then our own fortunate double deflection own goal and it's a 3-2 aggregate at the 38th minute

Just watched the first 60 minutes of the Hull/Derby game- was out and about.

@tulse_luper wtf was Bruce doing? That game screamed for some casual, normal footy, not a prevent 4-5-1 with little to no pressure. I presume that's not what you usually see?
