So 6 10-loss seasons in the last 13 years

Duke has 1 10-loss season in the last 20 years

2 things on Duke:
1) Grayson will be All-ACC as a Jr/Sr.  Kid just competes on every possession on both ends of the court.
2) Matt Jones has an Avery Bradley kind of game, minus the mentality of a guy who THINKS he should score 20 every game.  Defense, offensive rebounding, baseline cuts, spot up 3-pt shooting.  He will also develop into a very solid player and I think has a future at the next level if he works on his handle and mid-range game.

Some ankle tweaks to Jefferson/Winslow - hopefully they are healthy for Saturday @ the dump on the hump

The Jason Williams game against Maryland is still my favorite in that category.

That's probably the most insane comeback I've seen live, meaning live on tv. Probably more surprising than the 2004 ALCS.

Kind of interesting that Okafor's usage was down last night and Duke played so well offensivel, after that blog post

Well he got into early foul trouble so thats why he didn't play as many minutes, and also Wake sucks, but yeah - i HOPE a coach in the bball office read that article and they at least thought about it...

Right I didn't mean to imply that they changed anything intentionally, just that his usage was down and their offense was really good. Tons of open 3s.

t4w's game is probably my favorite as well, which was only later that year. That Duke team ripped Maryland's heart out and found nothing but net with it twice.

I watch my DVD of that game at least once a year.  It's amazing how poorly they shot in the first 10 minutes and then just flipped a switch and Maryland imploded.  Not just to win from 22 down, but to win by double figures is just insane in a Final Four game.

Outscored Maryland by 33 over the final 30 minutes or so.

Also, fun fact, in all 4 games that year the losing team had a 10 point lead. Maryland led 10-0 in the ACC tournament game IIRC.

Really don't like the direction of UNC basketball.  Time for some serious analysis of what is going on after this season.

Congrats to the Blue Devils.  Tyus Jones is a beast.

So scouts look at Tyus and see he's not that big and not that athletic for his position at the next level.  Yet every time Duke plays a big game he's the best player on the court, despite playing with a Wooden finalist and several games against POY candidates.  Shame he's leaving, K compared him to Hurley and Amaker after the game, the 2 best PG Coach K has ever coached (according to K that is).

Cook wasn't at his best this week, but I have him as ACC POY, just head of Grant from ND.  Big gap between those 2 and the next best ACC player too.

Okafor becomes the first player in ACC history to win Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year in the same year.

So UNC gets the 5 seed and will play the winner of #12 BC vs. #13Georgia Tech (1pm Tuesday) on Wednesday (2pm).

Duke gets the 2 seed and a double bye to Thursday at 7pm, when they play the winner of #7 NC State (who of course already beat Duke) vs. #10 Pitt. A win on Thursday would likely wrap up a 1 seed for Duke, if Saturday night's win didn't already.

UNC better pray that the white hot BC Eagles stumble against Georgia Tech.
I'm assuming your joking but BC could give them a little trouble, particularly the way Hanlan is playing and if good Heckman shows up.

It was a pretty close game when they played each other in Chestnut Hill (I think Hanlan dropped 30 or so) but BC had no answer for Brice Johnson or Isiah Hicks.

The State-Duke game tomorrow should be a good one.  Both teams are playing very well.

Yeah as we know they handled us pretty well in Raleigh. I expect a tough game but Duke to win by < 10.

Edit: and I like UNC's chances at knocking off Louisville today

Solid win for you guys. Still likely a 5 seed but definitely have a chance to move up tomorrow with a win vs. UVA, and if you win the ACCT then maybe even a 3 seed.

In fairness you guys had no business winning the game in the Dean Dome, but nice for you to take the rubber match. Don't mind seeing Pitino go one and done in his first ACCT. My boss is a hardcore UL fan so nice to be able to rib him a bit, even though he's a good dude and a good boss.

Roy played a crap ton of zone today and Louisville had no clue what to do, and we don't run it very well at all.  It's weird b/c they play a lot of it but don't execute against it.

So Duke is playing really fucking well right now.

I was optimistic that shortening the rotation when sheed left would actually help as it would force the freshmen to cement their roles playing major minutes. I think that's happened.

I wouldn't say it necessarily locks it up (much as I would like that - the 'UK' in my monicker is my country not my school, I'm a Duke alum...). But if Duke were to lose tonight I could see them slipping to a 2 if Vill thumps both the Friars and Hoyas and/or Arizona impresses in the P12T. While my old East Coast bias means I can't help but see Ariz and Utah as vastly overrated, for some reason they continue to get an undue amount of respect so if the Wildcats thump the Utes they could give the excuse the Committee needs to put a Western team in as West Region #1.

Don't get me wrong - I fully expect Duke to win tonight (their 30 pt whalloping of the Irish in Cameron means far more, IMO, than the 4 pt defeat in South Bend, especially considering the loss occurred in the midst of an eye-watering 5-game run of @ Louis, Home v Pitt, @ SJU, @ ND, @ UVa in which they won the other 4 games) but if they did lose you could easily make the case that they're behind UK, UVa and Wisc (assuming the Badgers win the Big10) and so would be up against 'nova and 'zona for the final #1 seed.

Yeah in my mind there are 6 teams battling for the 4 one seeds: UK, UVA, Duke, Villanova, Arizona, and Wisconsin. UK is a lock, UVA is pretty much a lock as well (I think). So Duke likely has to win another game if we assume that Arizona, Villanova, and Wisconsin all win out.

Not sure how much that matters in the eyes of the committee... although IMO it should matter a fair amount since both were true road games.

Agreed. Allen has been a real lift coming off the bench, and especially with a night like last night, getting to spell some guys with minutes from Plumlee and Jefferson is huge. I don't need much from Plumlee. Just rebound, take up space, and make your dunks without power-dribbling.

Justin Jackson is 50% from deep since the game over at your place...makes a huge difference b/c he can drive the ball and shoot that little floater that's money too.
