Yes, their tournament performance put an end to the talk I had seen elsewhere that they were not deserving champions or whatever because of the "easiness" of their ACC schedule compared to the other top teams.  They were just the best, period.

If Michigan wins, they will have beaten 11 top 50 teams to UVA's 5, and four of Michigan's 7 losses were to RPI top 10 teams.

UVA played 3 out-of-conference top 50 teams and lost all three by an average of 13 points.

If Michigan wins, it's theirs.

Yeah, as fun as it would be to have a one seed, I just think there are too many clunkers prior to the ACC season to warrant it.  No matter, I'm on a post-championship high, I feel like they could play and beat anyone whatever their seed.  For Duke's part, man, Parker is such a stud, I could've watched him and Mitchell go at it for another 40 minutes.

Fantastic job by Duke all day on TJ Warren.  Guy couldn't be stopped for several games in a row, but they did it.  Now they win tomorrow and get a #1 seed.

and thank you for sending the Wolfpack to the NIT where they belong
TJ Warren says hello

I just moved down to VA last fall and was looking forward to catching the ACC Tourney in the next year or two. Loved watching all the games on local channels last week. Now I see they are packing it up and moving it to the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn? Is anybody else bothered by this? Greensboro businesses stand to lose upwards of $20 million. I suppose it's great for Syracuse, but it has to suck for NC, Duke, NCST, Wake, UVA…

It's like moving the Big East Tourney to Indianapolis because Butler is now a member.

It's not moving to the Barclays until 2017. In Greensboro one more year and then DC for a year. It's been in Atlanta and Tampa recently, as well.

Maybe some of the "local" NC schools will be bummed if it's not in Greensboro as frequently, but schools like UVA and Duke have a ton of alumni in DC and NY and are quite pleased, I would imagine.

Shaka Smart giving it to Coach K -

“First of all, comparing your own league to someone else’s league is like me saying that my daughter is cuter than your daughter,” he said. “There’s a level of bias that comes into play that you shouldn’t even make those comments. Secondly, coaches are too busy to be an authority on someone else’s conference.

“I know our league really well because we’ve been in our league preparing for our league, but I don’t know much about anyone else’s league beyond the teams we’ve played in non-conference play,” he said.

Smart said a coach lobbying for his league is one thing, but taking pot-shots at another league “is low-level.”

“You kind of want to stand up for your league,” he said, “… a lot of this league solidarity, like a Duke guy standing up for N.C. State, that’s all self-serving too. Let’s be honest. ‘Our league is great because it’s our league.’ It’s a lot of that. Let’s just have a level of respect for each other and let’s respect the nine people on the selection committee and the work they put into to picking the 68 teams.

Yeah I don't particularly like when coaches stump for their leagues, either in basketball or football. If you have to stump, then the record isn't good enough to speak on its own. As much as I love K, have NC State win more games and he doesn't have to do this.

So you're comparing coaching a team with a historical 96% winning percentage with coaching an NBA team?

That seems perfectly reasonable.

Which both Krzyzewski and Smart seem to share for their respective schools. A trait that DukeSox apparently finds to be a lacking quality in the latter.

I could be wrong but I took his comment more as "we haven't heard anything about VCU / Smart in a while, has he fallen off the face of the earth" vs. "why is he still at VCU".

Give the guy a break, he's new to the board and he's probably not aware that DukeSox is the worst poster on this board.

Admit it, deep down you're embarrassed he roots for the same team, and you're secretly hoping he's a UNC fan doing a Duke parody account.

They did win the title in 2010 and went to the regional final last year, but yes they have also had some bad exits.

As much as it sucks dealing with media, social media, SoSH, etc. when Duke loses... it's probably not going to be a good day when the world DOESN'T celebrate Duke losing. Kind of like the Yankees in that regard.

Nothing to see here. If that Duke loss busted you're bracket, you simply weren't paying attention this year. Duke will start four freshman next year and they will be their best players by far. (Assuming Parker leaves)

Not really sure I understand your post. Duke fosters a deep hatred among almost all CBB fans. Facebook, SoSH, etc. are all supremely happy that Duke lost. "Puke", etc. My only point is that this will exist until Duke is irrelevant, and I don't want that day to come (even though it is coming sooner than later). Would my post have been more acceptable to you if I replaced "Yankees" with "Patriots"? Because it is the same story. See the recent articles about the Spikes/Talib injuries.

I could care less what defense mechanisms automatically trigger for you and other Duke fans when Duke loses. When my team loses, I'm more interested in discussing what happened in that game.

Defense mechanisms? Duke losing is no fun. This team wasn't all that great. I wasn't particularly emotionally invested. It's just interesting seeing how people react.

As for what happened in the game, it is pretty simple. Their two best players had horrible games, they played atrocious defense (as they have all year), and had several stretches where they couldn't score (again, a year long problem). Nothing more to discuss IMO.

Yeah, they'll be pretty good again next year, with a mix of experience and inexperienced players, and probably have a similar season to this year overall in terms of ACC finish and postseason performance. May win a tourney game or two. Limited hopes for me.

Got to hand it to the ACC, they stick together. One for all, and all for one. The theme today....SUCKING.

Everyone out to prove they're worse than Duke.

Iowa State F Georges Niang, who fractured his foot tonight and is out Sunday vs UNC, has started every game and averages 16.5 PPG, 4.4 RPG.

Imagine if Duke or UNC was as tough and intense as the Uconn kids? Or played as hard on D? Probably never lose to Mercer or Iowa State....

I don't think UNC defended Iowa State very well, especially late, but Iowa State also fell from 15-21 at the line against UNC to 6-15 against UCONN.  That isn't due to some better defensive scheme.

Stoked to see how they perform against a (theoretically) good defensive team.

This Duke team could be really, really good.

Bit of a sloppy first half (they're freshman and it's November) but clearly lots of athleticism and promise.
