When I watched Austin Rivers spot up, Tyler Zeller closing in, it happened in goddamn slow motion. That was such a shock because we had dominated that game.

Ha that was like 30 minutes later after the team came back out of the locker room to greet the fans.
I know nothing about the above pic, nor do I care (I was just passing through to see if there was an different reaction to the Duke/Syracuse game last night from what is in the Cuse thread), but I have a hard time believing the stadium, any stadium for that matter, would be that full 30 minutes after a game.   Hell, the stands look nearly full, let alone all the people on the court...

Quinn Cook, the incredible disappearing point guard.

Maybe he will figure it out as a senior...no, he won't.

Side note, I think my favorite part about this season is not seeing Josh Hairston play anymore.

I still can't comprehend how you foul the guy on the inbounds with 1.6 seconds left , what a stupid play.

Imagine how good they'd be if their best player didn't get kicked off the team for various felonious indications.

Just taking after his UNC family member Raymond Felton, I suppose.

Wonder if they had a non-class together and the bad influence rubbed off?

Looking fwd to the Cameron game guyz ;)

That kind of piss poor effort will get this team bounced in the first round. They need to get their shit together.

Free throw shooting and the inability to beat a zone or a defense like the diamond and one with a guy face guarding Paige will send this team home before the Sweet Sixteen.

TJ Warren went for 40+ tonight against Pitt.  Guy has to be player of the year in the conference, and I say that as somebody who wishes NC State would fall off the face of the earth.  Don't care if State makes the tournament or not, they have no wins without him.

DURHAM, N.C. For the seventh consecutive season, Duke placed two or more members on the All-ACC Academic Mens Basketball Team as announced by ACC commissioner John Swofford Tuesday. Sophomore Amile Jefferson earned academic honors for the second time, while Rodney Hood and Jabari Parker were first time honorees for the Blue Devils.

This Duke team is hard to figure. Could see a Final Four run or another opening round loss vs a 14 or 15 seed.

I think this is just another good example that in the world of college basketball, the saying "any given day" really applies.  You have to be prepared for a team of good players that have the ability to beat you if you don't play well.  Come tournament time, every game is a risky proposition.  You have to play well, and maybe get a few lucky bounces along the way, in order to win the whole thing.  There are very few true juggernauts out there that are just THAT much better than everyone else.

Be healthy, play well, get a few breaks, and a really good team has a chance.  That's what Duke has.  That's what I hope Syracuse has.

This team is also pretty, um, just not intelligent.

Here is why: During that span [Wake's 17-0 run], Duke’s 10 possessions went like this: turnover (Parker), turnover (Jefferson), missed 3 (Rasheed Sulaimon), turnover (Sulaimon), missed lay-up (Quinn Cook), missed 3 (Tyler Thornton), missed 3 (Cook), turnover (Sulaimon), missed 3 (Sulaimon), missed 3 (Andre Dawkins).

So in the midst of the game changing 5 minutes, the two lottery picks didn't take a shot (or their teammates didn't get them the ball).  If you're getting run out of the gym for a few minutes, just give the ball to parker or hood and let them drive.

These players probably don't really understand that they had a shot at a #1 seed, which is pretty helpful as then you don't have another #1 seed in your bracket.  This team is like UNC this year - gets amped up for (most) big games, and then plays like idiots the rest of the time.

~~

Whatever, the regular season is dragging and, for a team with the championship pedigree and unparalleled success like Duke, is just a tuneup to the real season.  Get into tournament mindset next weekend and then just be amped up for the sweet 16 game a few weeks after that - no letdowns there.

The team that passes on Parker first is insane. He was fun to watch, can get his anytime in any way. Like the fight from UNC but Duke was the much better team tonight, particularly Parker and Hood.

Paige & Parker named All-Americans by the Sporting News.  Means MP's jersey will be honored by UNC & hang in the Smith Center rafters.

To be honored they have to be Most Valuable Player of a National Championship-winning team, an ACC Player of the Year, a first- or second-team All-America, an NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player or a member of a gold medal-winning Olympic team

This is also a banner that no longer hangs, making the point twice as irrelevant.

TJ Warren is ACC POY.  I think he deserved it.

And UNC deserves to be made fun of the NIT 3rd place banner even though they did take it down.

I put a little soft-earned money down on Duke to win the tournament. My reasoning:

1. Best coach in the conference - I think these fast daily tournaments require tactical coaching and adjustments so I think Duke has a big edge here

2. Best player in the conference - Not only that but I've seen Parker play a lot this year and everything clicked on Saturday for him offensively. He has had better games, to be sure, but not with the same efficiency, offensive diversity and competition level. I think the middle of the season was a bit of grind for him and he's primed to cement his status as the number one overall pick in this and the NCAA tournament.

3. Duke wins this tournament a lot

4. Virginia is fantastic, wonderful, great. But they didn't have the kind of schedule that prepares you for the back to back teams they will need to beat to win this thing

5. Carolina is too young/inexperienced/reliant on one player to win this. Plus Roy Williams doesn't care and the seed difference between 6 and 4 is negligible.

6. Syracuse does, um, not look good right now.
