Didn’t look like he even tried to play tonight. He was passing every chance he got.

I wanted to buy a jersey of-someone on this team, but they have disgusted me so much & who knows who is on the team next year, I better just wait.

In a game of miserable performances, Yabu seems determined to put up the very worst in what few minutes are left.

    “Talk about effort”
And there’s Hayward who can’t even be bothered to wave at Siakam going by.

Was Rozier’s defense this bad last year? I don’t remember him just waving at guys. That stretch to begin the second was laughable. They just picked on him for about 6 straight possessions and gained an 8 point lead. The book is out on him. Give Brown 10 extra a night and drop Rozier down to 12. What’s to lose at this point?

Celtics are just as close to missing the playoffs as they are to the 1 seed.

At one point Marcus (Smart) passed him the ball on the way upcourt and Kyrie immediately and apparently angrily threw it right back. Incoming hot take but I almost wonder if he’s starting to try to distance himself from this Ryugyong mess and hoping the Knicks buy it. Like the guy who chips in for the keg at the high school party but then pretends he had nothing to do with it when the parents come home early.

The Bucks and Cavs exposed him defensively in the playoffs last year.

They might be done. Not sure I’ve ever been more shocked at a team with massive expectations.

    Up 34-30 after 12:40.

    Down 66-43 with 00:57 left.

27 point swing in less than 11 minutes.

    In the run:

    Brown missed 3
    Hayward missed 3
    Hayward missed 3
    Smart pass out of bounds
    Brown charge
    Morris missed 3
    Smart pass out of bounds
    Rozier missed layup
    TimeLord scores 2
    Smart missed hook shot
    Morris 1/2 free throws
    Morris pass out of bounds
    Kyrie charge
    TimeLord dunk for 2
    Kyrie missed jump shot
    Morris missed jump shot
    Smart has ball stolen
Kyrie "driving bank hook shot" for 2
Morris jump shot made for 2

    Horford missed jump shot
    Tatum has ball stolen
    Horford missed jump shot

Soooo ... TimeLord scores 4, Morris scores 3, and Kyrie scores 2.

    Tatum doesn't take shot.

    Smart is BRUTAL.

    0-4 from three, 4-14 overall.

In the meantime, Toronto hits five of six threes.

So what is the point? That the 2Q was a group effort?

The biggest issue for the Cs comes when they lose 1 on 1 battles on the defensive end because whn they can't score in transition, they are going to be in trouble.

On the offensive end, other than KI they are not dominating their 1 on 1 matchups. I don't know if it's because they aren't good enough or they aren't getting the correct matchups but there is no one on the offensive end that requires double teams other than KI.

And on the defensive end, they are not generating defensive stops.

This team would probably be a lot better if when they looked at the guy on the other team, they didn't automatically say, "I'm better than him."

This is about as mad as Brad gets with post game quotes...

    Boston.com Celtics News @BDCCeltics
Brad Stevens: "I thought we were all over the place defensively tonight. When I say, 'all over the place,' I mean we were taking a lot of shortcuts."

    Boston.com Celtics News @BDCCeltics\
More Stevens: "It's not like we don't know what we need to do. But for whatever reason, we were taking too much shortcuts."

    Jay King @ByJayKing
Brad Stevens: “We have to be a lot more connected as a team. That’s been a theme for a while.”

    Hey guys, what'd I miss?

Seriously, I'm not going to bother rehashing my thoughts for the 1000th time on Rozier, Gordon, Morris and Brads inability to try literally anything.

Almost every stretch of good basketball this team has played has been the result of favorable scheduling, home games and crappy opponents. I've been saying for weeks I was afraid this part of the schedule would expose them, and here we are. Not much reason for optimism tonight, IMO.

It’s going to sting when the Kings destroy this team twice.

    Yup.

I feel worse and worse the more anyone not named Marcus Smart opens his mouth. He’s not always playing great but he’s always playing hard and is the only one who even remotely understands how to be critical but positive at the same time. Maybe that kind of thing only feels like it matters more right now when they suck, but the energy around everyone else is just awful and it leaks out on the court where nobody cares about playing together and having each other’s back.

Morris undermines his teammates. Kyrie does the same but is now basically just sticking his head in the sand with the comments about deferring his answers to Brad or Smart. Meanwhile Brad’s favorite answer these days is I don’t know. Inspiring stuff.
