I understand not putting him on a checking line but would we be any worse with Vatrano taking Connollys minutes? At least for a few games?

God I have no idea. I feel like there's no attempt to use the stick there and he's certainly guiding it in with his skates but it's hard to say he kicked it either

Smartly didn't kick it but obviously guiding it in. I guess technically legal, but intent-wise not. NFL-ish gray area there.

I think he obviously knew what he was doing but has the plausible deniability of needing to stop in front of the goalie.

It would have been hilarious if they ruled it no goal for goalie interference.

Kicking the puck, goalie interference, both being called differently this year.

Used to be zero tolerance, now it's almost anything goes.

Agreed, but since he crashed into the back of the net, that negates any argument that he was just stopping short of the goalie. If Rask was there he would have trucked him
